“You too,” I called as they got out of the pool and headed towards the spa and activities hut.

“That was about as subtle as a train wreck,” Sydney said when they were gone.

I turned to her and gave her an innocent look. “What are you talking about?”

“They know something is going on. I saw the looks you and Alison were giving each other. Even the slight shake of your head you gave to Laura. Did you tell them we slept together?” Sydney accused.

“No. I haven’t seen either of them alone since yesterday. There hasn’t been time. Did you?”

“I wouldn't tell anyone. I don’t think we should,” Sydney said.

“That was the impression I was getting from you so I didn’t. I don’t agree but it doesn’t matter, I don’t think we were as good at hiding it as we wanted to be.”

“Great,” Sydney said with a sigh.

I walked over to her and put my hands on her hips. “It’s no one’s fault that I can’t look at you and not show how much I want you.”

“We shouldn’t be doing this,” Sydney tried to slide away from me but I held her in place.

“Doing what? Feel what we feel and act on it? There’s nothing wrong with what we’re doing. You were having a good time when we were parasailing. What changed?”

“No one was around then,” she admitted.

“There’s no one around now.”

Sydney looked as if she was expecting to see someone we knew. There was staff that we had known for years but they were discreet and wouldn’t say anything. If I saw a few approving looks as I stood close to Sydney, I didn’t let her see them.

“There could be no one around later when we have dinner.”

“I’m not having dinner in your room,” Sydney stated.

“What a wonderful idea, we should do that later. I was thinking we could have dinner on the beach. They do an excellent candlelight dinner. Alison and Laura are going to be occupied so we wouldn’t have to worry about them.”

“What about the Irish band?”

“We can check them out after our dinner or another night. I want more time alone with you.”

“You just want to try to get me into your bed.”

“That is definitely one of my goals of the night but it isn’t the only one.”

“Why are you so honest with me?” Sydney asked.

“Because I want to be, because I should be. I don’t want any pretense between us. I want you, in my bed, in my life, in whatever way you will let me. Lying or playing games won’t make it any less real and it will only leave you confused about my motives. I don’t want that between us. I only want truth and honesty. So, tell me truthfully, what do you want to do tonight?”

I held my breath while I waited for her to tell me. She had been hot and cold all day and I was worried she would push me away. I didn’t think she wanted to but I couldn’t be sure. If she was honest with herself then she would be honest with me. She wanted to have the romantic dinner and she wanted it to end with us going to my room. She just needed to admit it herself.

“Cameron. I don’t know what’s going to happen but I can’t deny I want to spend more time with you. Dinner tonight on the beach sounds wonderful.”

“Excellent,” I said and brought my mouth down to hers.

Chapter 12

Sydney

I half expected to see Laura waiting for me in my room when I got there. She had been giving me looks all afternoon whenever Cameron said anything. I had teased Cameron about the looks and comments Alison had given but Laura had done the same thing.

We had been best friends for years and I had never kept anything from her. She knew me better than I knew myself and I was sure she knew what had happened between Cameron and me, even if she didn’t say anything.
