Damn, they don’t fit.

Good thing I showed you how fun it is to dance barefoot.

Indeed. It was an absolute pleasure.

As were the other things we did while you were barefoot

Several seconds tick by before she replies.

She finally sends a blushing-faced emoji.

Okay, that’s cute. My gorgeous genius is also cute as fuck.

Marrying her is going to be the easiest thing I’ve ever done.

As soon as she fucking says yes.

I’m thinking July eighteenth

For what?

Our wedding.

Fine. I’m taking it a little slow. I’m not pushing this in person, at least. And that’s a month from today. I want the wedding next week, but I realize that’s probably overreacting.

Her reply is simply three laughing-crying emojis.

I frown.

You’d rather do it sooner?

I’m not marrying you, Torin. Though I do think you should still consider indoor farms for Cara. They would be perfect for you.

I focus on the first five words at first, feeling frustrated and almost panicked. I need her. For so many reasons.

But then I read the entire message again. And again.

You looked up my country, didn’t you? And our agricultural status. And our environment. And our economy.

It’s nearly three minutes before she replies and I’ve almost given up when a text finally lights up my screen.

Yes.

I grin. She was curious. That’s good. That’s very good.

Come to Cara, Abigail. Be my princess.

That’s such an overreaction! I can just come and build farms for you.

Yes, she could. Of course. But I need a princess and I want her. Those two things should go together.

I need to get married. And if it’s not you, I don’t think whoever ends up as princess will appreciate how I feel about the gorgeous scientist who is revolutionizing agriculture in my country and making me hard every time I see her in green work boots.

Again, it’s several minutes before she replies.

Thanks for checking in about the shoes.

Changing the subject won’t work. Not forever. I don’t actually give a fuck about the shoes. Especially if she doesn’t want them back, and I can’t use them as a completely valid reason to fly two hours to see her.
