I can’t help it—I can feel the blush spreading across my cheeks. I look away from him, refusing to meet his eyes. “No, you’re not wrong.”

Chapter 17

Lilly

A soft light shines across the room, and I scrunch up my face, wondering if I’d forgotten to draw my curtains last night before going to bed. With a deep sigh, I roll over, only to remember that I’m not at home. I’m not in my bed.

I’m in Aiden King’s.

He’s sleeping beside me on his side, his arm thrown over my waist, his hand resting on my hip. I stare at his sleeping form, his chest rising and falling. I smile softly.

I shift again, and this time it wakes him up. He opens his eyes, and his gaze lands on mine. A smile spreads across his face.

“How’d you sleep?” he asks, his voice deep.

“Best sleep of my life.”

“Told you so.”

I giggle. “What time is it?”

“Doesn’t matter,” he responds, reaching out to wrap me in his arms and pull me against his chest.

I chuckle. “What about work?”

He nuzzles into my neck, his voice muffled. “I don’t care about work.”

“Well, I do,” I say, playfully elbowing him.

He responds by tightening his grip around my waist. “Technically, I’m the boss, so I can declare today a no-work day.” He nibbles on my ear.

“Okay, boss, and what about all the work that won’t get done today?”

But instead of answering, Aiden snakes a hand down my belly and in between my thighs.

I laugh in shock, but it’s quickly cut off when he finds my center, rubbing gently against my clit. I suck in a breath. “Aiden,” I breathe. “The time—”

“Shhhh,” he whispers in my ear. “No one’s gonna die if we’re an hour late.”

Chapter 18

Aiden

Lilly and I arrive at work around 9:30 a.m. The receptionist—Monica, I believe is her name?—definitely gives us a once over when we walk through the door together, and Lilly shoots her a look. From their interactions, I know they’re friends. I wonder if she’ll be honest with her about what’s gone down between us.

I simply smirk and head off to my office. Lilly settles in across the hall from me, smoothing her hair as she often does. I find myself looking up from my desk, across the hall to hers, and catching her eye. God, I love the way she blushes so easily. Her cheeks turn this adorable pink color, and she bites her lip.

Shaking my head, I try to focus.

Later, my phone buzzes on the desk, and I look down to see a call from Asher.

“Hey,” I answer.

“I’ve been meaning to check in with you about the foundation,” he says, getting straight to the point.

“Aren’t you supposed to be on a honeymoon?” I shoot back.

Asher chuckles. “They get cell service in the Bahamas, believe it or not. Olivia’s at the spa, and I’m just hanging out by the pool. Thought it would be a good time to call.”
