I end the call, tuck the phone back in my pocket, and hunt her down. When I make it down the hall, I see the detective who was at Matteo’s house the day before. Interesting.

Is our accountant working with that prick, too? Or is that bastard following me? I need the names of everyone working in this building.

Ducking out of his way, I go through the stairwell, and that’s when I hear the heels clicking. Dipping my head over the railing, I get a glimpse of her. Fucking cute.

She’s out first, but she has no idea that my men will see her once she reaches the fresh air. Samson steps in her path and startles her, causing her to freeze outside. She backs up into the revolving doors and into my chest. I wrap my arms around her and chuckle against her ear. “Wife, where are you going?”

“Hold the door for Mrs. Mohr, please,” I say, grinning while trying to figure out my next move. There’s no way I can keep her hostage for too long. This building probably has a dozen cameras.

“Did we wipe the surveillance on the building?” I ask my men as I get my woman into the vehicle.

“Yes, but there are things we need to discuss without company,” Samson says, tipping his head toward my pretty little captive.

“Then we will, as soon as we get my wife home.” I tug off my tie because it suddenly feels restrictive.

“Oh, great, you’re dropping me off at my place. That’s wonderful. That’s nice of you to play along and everything,” she says, patting my chest. Fuck. Her hand on my chest only makes me harder.

“What’s your name?” I ask, fighting off the urge to pin her down on the leather backseat and make her scream my name.

“Patty.” So she’s going to play that first-name bullshit. It’s cute, but soon, all the information will be in the palm of my hands.

“I think I prefer Cupcake. So who the fuck were you running from in there?” Whoever the bastard is will have to deal with me.

“That’s not your business.” There’s a deafening silence in the SUV, and it’s almost laughable that they’re worried about how she’s speaking to me.

I chuckle. “No, that’s where you’re wrong. See, I let you get away with a lot of shit in there with that perverted doctor who wanted to bend you over, and let’s just say I won’t let that happen again. Who were you running from?”

“I wasn’t running from anyone.” What a fucking little liar.

“Fine. You won’t answer me; that’s okay.” I nod, smirking at her deceitful ass.

My father calls just as she reaches for the handle of the door. “Son of a bitch.” I accidentally accepted it as a video call while trying to keep her from jumping out.

I slam the door shut and grab her wrists with one hand. With my tie, I bind her hands together. It’s tight, but not enough to leave marks. “What the fuck is going on, Gio?”

“Just dealing with a little problem,” I answer.

“That’s not what the meeting was for. We’re not taking hostages, Gio.”

“What?” I snarl.

“What are you doing with one of Moreno’s daughters?” Hell, no. This fucking girl who has my balls ready to explode, desire burning from every ounce of my body, is the spawn of my enemy? No way.

“Dad, I’ll call you back.” I turn to appraise my little captive, suddenly looking petrified.

“Oh shit.”

“Oh shit is a good fucking response.” She flinches. “Did you think you’d get something out of me, Cupcake?” I should open the fucking door, toss her out on the road, and let a semi come and make her roadkill. Still, I instantly nix that idea because I can’t even tighten the fucking tie on her hands just in case it leaves marks.

Chapter Four

Patty

Oh, shit. I’m staring at the most attractive man, yet he looks like he’s about to open the car door again and toss me out into oncoming traffic. I have no idea who he is, but he’s obviously extremely dangerous, and he knows who I am, which isn’t good. Nothing is good when you’re the daughter of an infamous mob boss with enemies around the world and an empire that’s crumbling because you can’t stop your habits or control your temper.

I should have let my father’s new guard help me. Perhaps he’s an undercover Fed or something, because coming to my godfather was foolish. He was dealing with Detective Sanchez, and from the expression on their faces, I knew I was in trouble.

He wasn’t going to help me any more than my mother was when she said that I was getting married this evening. I couldn’t go back with that asshole detective, so if this beast wants to kill me, it’s better than marrying that monster they were throwing me at. I know exactly who the man is and how dangerous he is. My father is petrified of him and gladly offered me up to the man. Although we haven’t met, I hear he’s handsome, but his looks must be deceiving because he is sick and twisted.
