I’m dimly aware of the hundreds of people watching this moment unfold, but I don’t care. I don’t even want to take the time to find a private room to talk about this. I’ve waited so long for this conversation; I don’t want to wait a second longer to sort everything out.

His smile is slow and genuine. “I started listening to myself.”

Tears prick at the corners of my eyes, and for a moment, I struggle to find my voice. My thoughts are a whirlwind of emotions — disbelief, joy, and a love that’s been waiting to burst free from the confines of what we used to have. This is the man who’s been by my side all these years, and now he wants to give me everything I’ve ever dreamed of.

With my heart overflowing, I finally choke out the words. “Yes, Felix. Yes, I will have you.”

The moment our lips meet, it feels like fireworks going off inside my chest. Our kiss is passionate and tender, a perfect reflection of the love we’ve kept hidden for so long. As we pull apart, I see tears glistening in his eyes too, mirroring my own happiness.

And then, as if waking from a beautiful dream, I become aware of the world around us once more. The entire room has erupted into applause, their cheers and congratulations washing over us like a tidal wave of love and support. Among the sea of faces, I spot Anna and Bethany beaming with joy, their smiles as wide as my own.

My parents stand at the back of the room, their hands clasped tightly together. Their eyes sparkle with pride, and for the first time in a long while, I see tears on my stoic father’s face.

As Felix wraps his arms around me and pulls me close, I marvel at the incredible turn of events. The life I had planned — the loveless marriage, the endless pursuit of happiness — has been replaced by something far more magical: a future with the man I’ve secretly loved for years, a man who’s finally shown his true heart to me.

In this moment, surrounded by applause and the promise of a beautiful future, nothing feels impossible.

CHAPTER 30

FELIX

“Good morning,” I whisper, slipping into the kitchen and wrapping my arms around Lily from behind.

“Morning,” she replies, her voice soft and filled with happiness.

I bury my face in her hair and inhale deep. Seven months have passed since the magical night when I finally confessed my feelings to her. Now, in our new house, with the love of my life, I couldn’t be happier.

I hold her a little tighter, reveling in this moment. Her skin is warm to the touch, and I can feel the life growing inside her. She’s due any day now, and somehow pregnancy has only served to make her sexier.

The baby kicks against my hand, and I grin big.

“Your child is excited to see you.” Lily guides my hands to another spot on her belly, and the baby moves again.

“And I can’t wait to see my little one.”

We’ve decided to keep the gender a surprise, and everything is ready to go for our son or daughter. The nursery is stuffed with everything we need, and we have a postpartum doula booked and a lactation consultant on speed dial. Not to mention, Lily and I have been devouring podcasts about babies and pregnancy for the last six months.

Now, there is nothing left to do but wait for our little one to make a grand entrance.

“You’re up early.” Lily turns around to face me.

“Couldn’t sleep.” I press a gentle kiss to her temple. “Too excited for today.”

Lily beams as we talk about the big opening ceremony taking place this morning. It’s for the new headquarters of her children’s charity, a cause she’s poured her heart and soul into. The pride I feel for her is immeasurable.

“Can you believe it?” She shakes her head with excitement. “This is going to make such a difference for so many kids. We’ll have a playground, staff therapists, and even a partnership with an organic farm to help provide healthy food options.”

Her enthusiasm is contagious, and I find myself grinning like a fool just listening to her.

“Your passion for helping others is truly inspiring, Lily,” I tell her sincerely. “I know your charity will change countless lives for the better.”

“Thank you.” Her cheeks flush pink. “I couldn’t have done it without your support.”

As much as she thinks I’ve been supportive, in truth, I’m the one who should be grateful. Not only has she given me purpose in life, but she’s also shown me what true love feels like.

I look at the woman before me, carrying our child, and I’m reminded of my parents, the king and queen of Albavarre, still madly in love to this day. Their love and devotion have always been a source of pressure for me as their only child, but now, with Lily by my side, I have no doubt that we can create a similar life filled with love and happiness.

“You ready to go?” I squeeze her hand.
