One of the reasons I agreed to this big celebration was because they all needed it.

Florian grips my hands, snapping me back to the present as our gazes clash, and he presses his forehead against mine.

“Dearly beloved…” Father Paul starts the ceremony, only to groan and mutter under his breath. “For once, can we have everything going according to order and rules?”

Because Florian pulls me to him and traps my mouth in a deep, toe-curling kiss. Our friends whistle, and our daughter giggles as several cameras flash in our faces, the media eager to photograph this moment. Not that I care. I’ve never been happier.

This kiss announces to everyone that nothing can stop him from being with me, even death. He found his way back to me, and although he’ll always reside in the darkness, it will never consume his soul.

He whispers against my lips, “Ready, princess?”

Once upon a time, I fell in love with my brother’s best friend.

A forbidden villain who I thought could never be mine.

Except…

I captured his heart, forever becoming his.

So there is only one answer to his question. “Yes.”

They say monsters don’t get to have happily ever afters.

I intend to prove them wrong.

Because there is no happiness for me without him, as love is a gift.

And I’ll cherish it for the rest of my life.

EPILOGUE

“If we live through countless lifetimes…I’ll love you in every single one of them.

Don’t you dare leave this world before me because I’ll follow you.

As there is no me without you, just endless darkness.

My wife…you’re my light.

Never forget it.”

“Give it back to me!”

“No! You lost it, so it’s mine!”

“I left it in our room!”

“Exactly! I found it, so it’s mine.”

“That’s not how it works!” A loud huff echoes in the garden. “Give it back, Jacob!”

“Let go of me, Matías!”
