“Daddy! Daddy! I made my first invite! Isn’t it adorable?” Millie came to a stop in front of Spike who was sitting on the sofa. Mr. Fluffy was sleeping on his bed next to Spike’s feet. He opened one eye and stared up at her before falling back asleep.

“Don’t worry, Mr. Fluffy, I have your outfit all ready. You are going to look so adorable for our super-duper Easter egg hunt!!” She went to clap her hands before she remembered the invitation she was holding.

Oops. She had to be careful! She didn’t want to ruin the surprise.

Carefully, she handed it over to Spike. “Take a look, Daddy!”

“Cute,” he said.

The invitation looked like an Easter egg resting on a flat base, and it was all glittery and delicious.

“Open it, Daddy!”

He raised an eyebrow.

“Please. I want to make sure it works. The invitation part is inside the egg.”

“How many people are coming to this thing?” he asked.

“It’s not a thing. It’s an amazing, super-duper awesome Easter egg hunt.” She held her arms up dramatically.

Spike’s lips twitched. “My apologies.”

Millie patted his shoulder. “You’ll get there, Daddy. Soon you’ll be as excited as me. Isn’t Easter the best?”

“I thought Christmas was the best?” he asked.

“It is!”

“And Valentine’s Day?”

She nodded enthusiastically. “Also the best.”

“How about Halloween?” he asked.

“Yep. Spooky best.” She waved her fingers in the air. “Oooh. Oohh.”

“What was that?” he asked.

“Um, the sound a ghost makes.”

“Isn’t that boo?”

“Pfft. That’s too obvious.”

“Ahh. So what about your birthday?”

“Best day of the year!”

He snorted. “So, how many people are coming?”

“Well, I have to send the invites first to get back the RSVPs. So I’m not sure,” she told him.

Spike eyed her for a long moment. “Baby doll.”

“Daddio!” she said back with a grin.
