Too familiar.

Is that…?

No. It couldn’t be.

And yet, it was.

Nate danced in the cage in nothing but a pair of tight black briefs.

What the actual fuck?

I must’ve said it out loud because Aislynn and Shara peered in the same direction. I knew the moment they recognized him, too, because Ash choked, while Shara started cackling loud enough to be heard clearly over the music. All three men’s eyes landed on us, but Shara didn’t care. “Oh, he’s in so much trouble.”

“Yes, he is. Now put your eyes back in your head,” I growled.

I’d never been a territorial woman before, but the idea of anyone seeing him nearly naked… No. Not okay. The need to yank him out of that cage and teach him a lesson struck me in the chest, and I welcomed it. It wasn’t anger but passion, and I wrapped it around myself like a favorite sweater.

That fire had been missing for me since Rey died; it felt good to sense it again.

I tapped my fingers against my leg as I debated what to do. If I pulled him out of the cage, I’d ruin Aislynn’s party. If I didn’t, I’d end up killing someone. Thankfully, Ash made the decision for me.

“Go get him before someone else tries.”

A glance at the bar told me she was right. The servers were all making eyes at Nate.

My Nate.

Absolutely fucking not.

“Oh fuck,” Moore groaned. “Just what we need.”

“Come on, baby. This’ll be fun. We may get bodies tonight after all,” Tennessee joked.

I stood carefully, making sure every step was measured. Calculated. I hadn’t been this on edge in months. I didn’t want to kill anyone tonight, just teach them a lesson they’d never forget.

Instead of going to the cage, I headed for the bar first. Suitors first, then I’d deal with my errant boyfriend.

Benji saw me coming and got to work on a new drink, sliding it down the bar, though I obviously didn’t need one. The other workers weren’t so astute.

“He’s so hot,” one of the servers whispered from where she leaned against the bar. “Seriously, I’m going to need a shower to cool off soon. Think he’d join?”

“I don’t know, but do you see the outline of that dick? It would break me to pieces,” another said.

“It really would,” I said calmly, sipping from the glass Benji had slid across the bar. “Too bad he’s not available.”

“He got a girlfriend or something? Because I can be discreet.” She winked like it was funny that she’d just suggested being Nate’s side chick to my face.

“Oh fuck.” Benji backed up, eyes wide and nervous.

“What?” she asked, looking between the bartender and me. “Oh shit. You’re his girlfriend.”

The first server, all blonde hair and blue eyes, looked like she wanted to puke. “We didn’t know, Ms. Marcosa.”

“Ms. Marcosa?” the second one squeaked. “Oh god. I’m so sorry. He’s just so hot and?—”

I cleared my throat as her friend elbowed her in the side hard.

“Sorry, sorry. I didn’t know, I swear.”
