Chapter Ten

____________

Teddy

"Please, Teddy. I want to do this with you," Payton walks over to me and touches my shoulder, "and this might not be the only thing we'll be sharing." Her eyes tell me exactly what she is talking about. She's talking about babies. They overheard our conversation.

“I think we have an outdoor wedding planned, Payton.” I really don’t want to give up our cliffside nuptials. Not after the way Reef purposed to me.

“Ford won’t mind if I want to change locations. He just wants to get married Sunday and the way news spreads on this island everyone will know where to go and when to come. Please Teddy, let’s do this together.”

"Can, um, I do it too?" We all look over at Willa who is staring down at her hand where a big ass diamond that apparently belonged to Peirce’s grandmother rests on her finger. “It’s just…I’ve been making Peirce wait for so long…,”

She looks up at us, “I don’t want to wait any longer.”

“Hell yes, you can!”

"Me too." Charlie holds her hand up as well. What the hell?! Where the hell was she hiding that? Who the hell is she marrying? “Turns out, I like bad boys and Sebastian…he asked me to marry him. And I said yes.” We all crowd around to see the ring she’s got on.

It's a big blue stone surrounded by hundreds of tiny little blue ones. Damn, that’s a cool ring. Not as cool as mine but perfect for the artistic Charlie.

“I just didn’t want to say anything because I thought it would steal your spotlight. We were going to elope.”

“Absolutely not!” Payton jumps up and down with excitement. “It will be a four bride wedding.”

"What the hell is everyone doing in here?" All of us turn to look at Hadden staring at all of us from the doorway.

"Charlie, Willa, and Teddy are all going to get married with me tomorrow!" Payton yells animatedly. She's already planning all the little details in her head, I can tell. What Payton wants, Payton works her ass off to get.

"What?" Hadden goes a little pale. I never thought about how she would feel about all of us getting married at once. How lonely she must feel, especially because of her twin doing it?

Before we can explain what is going on or tell her that she is not going to be alone just because all of us are marrying she surprises us. She asks, "Can, um...I do it too?"

"What?!" I think all of us are shocked beyond words but it's Payton that screams the word out.

She also holds up her hand and we all look at yet another ring, this time on Hadden’s third finger.

“Who?” Payton asks the question on everyone’s mind. It’s practically on fire in there. Who wrangled the wild child?

For the first time in her life I think, Hadden blushes and looks…hesitant. “Dirk.”

It's clear all of us have stories to tell one another and mom and dad are going to freak when they find out. The men are all standing outside waiting when we come out. Mom and Dad are both sitting down and even though I'm sure they are happy for all of us, five weddings in one day are going to be a bitch to pull off so they are looking a little thunderstruck too.

Everyone starts talking all at once and the entire restaurant is buzzing with the news that all the James sisters are getting married on Sunday.

"Come on." I feel a tug on my hand and look at Reef standing beside me. "They can handle some of this. I want to celebrate with you right now."

I let him lead me away from the others. I think he knows I don't like all the noise and commotion that this is going to cause. He's good at reading me like that - already. Another way I can tell we are meant to be. Just one of many.

***

Exactly forty-eight hours from the time we all told mom and dad about us getting married, I’m about to become a wife. We spent Saturday searching for the perfect dresses for everyone. Peirce flew us all to the city where we looked through store after store until every sister had found her dream dress and veil. The men took care of the flowers while we were away only asking us what colors we like. And I have to say, looking at the bunches of flowers sitting on a table waiting for us to pick them up, they did a magnificent job. My flowers are classic but colorful since I went with something simple for my gown. It’s made up of red roses and white lilies with sprigs of other smaller white flowers to make it look full and large.

“Are you ready for this?” Willa looks over at me with a model smile lighting her face. Her bouquet is big and pink with little roses overflowing her arms.

“Absolutely!” And I’ve never meant it more.

“Then let’s go get our men, ladies.” Hadden’s arms are full of purple roses and lilies with lilacs and hydrangeas spread throughout. I never thought I would see the day Hadden walked willingly down the aisle to a man but seeing her around Dirk and how he handles her is…pleasantly surprising.

I look over to my other side and see Charlie holding a big blue bouquet and Payton with an orange one. When we stand in line, like right now, we look like a rainbow of color. Each different and none taking away from the other. The doors open and we step out at the same time. Even though there are four other men standing at the end of the line, I only have eyes for one. The tall one with the blue eyes smiling at me with such love on his face. I have complete and total tunnel vision for the love of my life waiting down the long, white carpet covered in rose petals for me.

The sun is behind the men and the preacher waiting with them. By the time we finish, it will have started to set and we will get to share our first sunset all together as newly married people. It’s a hell of a way to start a life together and to continue the life I love with the women I share it with. How could anyone ask for more?
