“Noah! How nice to hear from you. Your mother and I were talking about you and Beau Barrett. You know Daphne’s in California, right?”
Daphne had been Press’ brother’s childhood sweetheart, and I had no idea she was in the States, let alone California. I wondered if Beau knew.
“I had no idea. I’ve been out of the country. How’s the trip, Dad?”
“We always enjoy our time with the Cullens.”
“I hate to interrupt your vacation, but there’s something I need to ask you about.”
“You sound troubled. What is it?”
“Can you tell me everything that went down when you bought the Reeve property?” My father was silent long enough that I wondered if the call had dropped. “Dad?”
“I’m here. Is there a reason you’re asking about this now?”
“I’m friends with Seraphina Reeve, and to be honest, her mother isn’t a big fan of mine. We both believe it relates to whatever happened then.”
“It does, Noah.”
