He glances at me and grins. “I was talking about the lights.” He holds up his arm, and I curl up next to him. He pulls the duvet up and tucks it around us.

“Are you sure?” I whisper. “About moving?”

“It’s all sorted. I’ve already talked to Alan.”

“Oh.” That surprises me.

He strokes my back. “I hope you don’t mind. It’s not that you were last on the list.”

“I know, honey. Your business is important.”

“It is, and thank you for saying that, but it’s more that I wanted to make sure it would work. I had to know that Mack and Saxon were on board, and just to iron out a couple of practical matters with Alan—the transfer of data, that kind of thing.”

“And it all went well?”

“Yes, perfect. The main thing was getting Saxon on board to run the company this end.”

“You think he’s up to it?”

“Oh, definitely. I wasn’t joking when I said he was smarter than me. He’d give Mack a run for his money. But he’s a creative rather than a critical thinker. I analyze and evaluate. And he…”

“Makes stuff up?”

He laughs. “Yeah. We work well together. Critical thinking is logical, objective, based in reality and probability. Creative thinking is intuitive, subjective, and based in possibility. He forms hypotheses, and I test them. One’s no good without the other.”

“I think you’re putting yourself down, because you seem very creative to me, but I understand what you’re saying.”

“Basically, he comes up with the ideas and I put them into practice, but you’re right, of course, there’s a lot of crossover. He’s good with people, as you’ve seen, but I was hoping to ease him into running the company by starting with the new branch. Instead I’m kinda throwing him in the deep end. But he’ll cope, and I think he’s excited about the challenge.”

“I wonder if he’s knocking on my mother’s door at the moment.”

He chuckles and kisses the top of my head. “I told him what had happened with your dad. He knows she’s been through it a bit, and she’s here on her own. He wanted to cheer her up.”

“So he wasn’t hitting on her?”

He tips his head from side to side, and we both laugh.

“He really seemed to like that girl he hooked up with,” I say, as he slides down the pillows and gets comfortable.

“Yeah. It’s a shame when that happens. That’s why you have to hold onto the good ones when you find them.” He tightens his arms around me.

I wish we could make love now, but I’m tired, tipsy, and full of good food, and I’m so cozy, under the covers with the man I love.

He doesn’t say anything more, and soon his breathing evens out, and I know he’s falling asleep.

He’s going to move across the world to be with me. Oh my God. I still can’t believe it.

My lips curve up, and within a few minutes, I’m asleep.

When I wake, it’s still dark, but the horizon is filled with the blush of dawn. It’s lovely and warm in bed, and someone is kissing my neck.

Smiling, I turn my head and let him kiss my lips. “Morning,” I murmur.

“Morning.” He nuzzles my ear, then moves up closer so our bodies are flush, my back to his chest. “Sorry, did I wake you?”

“Mmm, but it’s the absolute best way to wake up.” I move a hand behind me and slide it down to grasp his erection in his boxer briefs. “Morning, Sir Richard.”
