I tried to lift my head but she didn’t let go of my hair so I was stuck with my neck straining at a weird angle. “I don’t even know what to say to them, Sara. I’m losing my mind.”

“Start with saying you miss them.”

I slumped. “I do miss them. I haven’t talked to any of them since that morning.”

“So tell them that.”

“Just like that? Just say I miss them?” I shuddered. “That’s too mushy.”

“That’s ridiculous. This whole thing is ridiculous. You should be able to talk to them the same way you talk to me. They’re your best friends.” She wrapped my hair around the top of my head and somehow made it stay. “You at least need to apologize.”

I pulled my phone out of my pocket and tapped the screen nervously. “I know. I know I need to. I’m just—”

“Scared?”

“So fucking scared.” I blew a raspberry and whimpered. “What if they hate me?”

“You message them or I will.” Sara scooted off the desk and grabbed her purse. “I’m tired of hearing you freak out about them when you just need to talk to them.”

I opened a message to all three of them and glared at her. “You’re a pain in the ass. Forcing me to be an adult is a really shitty thing to do.”

“What are you saying?” She read over my shoulder as I typed. “Oh, that’s good. Now send a picture of your tits too.”

I pushed her away and laughed. “God, Sara, you’re a nightmare.”

She shrugged. “I just think if you want to make sure they show up, the best way to do it is to send a picture of your tits.”

I read the text aloud to make sure it was okay. “If possible I’d like all three of you to come to my house tonight. To talk. Just to clarify since my actions of late have left room for interpretation.”

“Now add a tit pic. Do you already have one or do you need help taking a good one?” Sara pretended to get a good angle of my chest. “I used to be great at getting just the right shot.”

Instead of a tit pic, I attached a picture of me pouting. “I’m going puppy dog face instead. Thanks for the offer, though. I know where to come if I’m ever in that market.”

“So, what are you going to say to them?”

My stomach bottomed out. “I don’t know! I should write it down. Right?”

“That’s what I’ve always heard. If you want to give a speech from the heart, write it down.” She rolled her eyes at me. “Just say what you feel.”

“Do people do that?” I gagged. “Just say how they feel like it’s nothing? Ugh.”

“You better figure something out because it looks like you just got your first rsvp.” She nodded at my phone lighting up on the desk.

I looked and saw that Sam and Jude had both responded to say they’d be there. A moment later a message from Cyrus came through saying the same. “Okay. They’re coming. That’s fine. That’s what I wanted.”

“Just tell them how you feel, Poppy. It doesn’t have to be harder than that.” Sara hugged me tight. “Although it could’ve been if you would’ve sent them a tit pic.”

I groaned at her terrible joke. “You’re a monster since you started seeing that guy. Getting laid makes you awful.”

“Speaking of, I have to go. I want to do a fast shave before I meet up with him tonight.” Sara pulled me up and pushed me toward the door. “Maybe you should do the same to make sure you’re ready for whatever.”

“Sara, all three of the guys are going to be there tonight. What do you think is going to happen?”

She wagged her brows. “It’s like you’ve never heard of reverse harems.”

“Heard of them in books? Yes. Considered that they happen in real life? Never.” I ignored the flutter in my stomach. “I hope your sex is great this weekend. Call me and let me know if it isn’t.”

She shot me a finger gun. “I hope your sex is great too.”
