His hand went on her lower back again and rested there for a second. It’s like he was teasing her for something more and she wasn’t sure when that more was going to happen.

The two of them took slow to a whole new level.

Sean came around with the SUV, she moved to the passenger side with Luke and he helped her in it just like he did his own SUV since it was so high up. Then he went to the driver’s side and got in. Sean leaned into the open window and pointed things out to the two of them.

“I’ve got it,” Luke said.

She laughed when they pulled away. “Does he think we are some idiots? All he pointed out were silly things we could figure out on our own. I don’t care about the radio right now. That is stuff I’ll figure out later.”

“Got to make a good pitch,” Luke said.

“Just drive around and give me your thoughts. I’ll know how it feels from this side.”

“Are you sure you don’t want to try it?”

“Nah,” she said. “It will be fine. I’m not too fussy with cars and it’s not like I drive all that much. It will be nice to have some of these newer features. My last car was the first new car I’d ever bought and I felt so proud, but it was time to get rid of it. It wasn’t easy to drive in the snow last year.”

Not to mention it’d be nice to have the extra storage when she was bringing things from the labs and home or to the shop. She didn’t do it a lot, but once in a while.

“Do you want me to hop on the highway quickly and get it up to speed?”

“Yes,” she said. “Go as fast as you want. You can get away with it.”

She was laughing when she said that. “Probably not smart,” he said. “Speed limit is sixty-five. How fast do you normally drive?”

“Faster than that but doesn’t everyone?” she asked.

“We’ll go seventy-two,” he said, grinning at her.

She let out a sigh. “Good enough.”

“Don’t tell me you drive faster,” he said. “In a car it’s one thing. Something bigger like this is going to have drag in the wind.”

“I know,” she said. “I’m a careful driver. More so since I can’t make you look bad.”

After ten minutes of driving around, they headed back to the dealership and parked in front as Sean had told them to do.

They went inside and Sean was on the phone, but he hung up and came toward them fast. “That was a quick test drive.”

“It doesn’t take me long to make up my mind,” she said. “Now we can talk money.”

“You were already approved,” Sean said. “For the one percent interest. It’s pretty fast. There is a deal for first-time buyers if you owned one of our competing brands prior.”

She told them what her last car was and he smiled and said that would take another fifteen hundred off. More than she figured and was pretty pleased.

“Wonderful,” she said.

He pulled out his iPad again when she sat down. “This is what your payment would be?”

It was a little less than she’d calculated on her own. “Looks good,” she said. “When can I get it?”

“If you want to get some lunch or run some errands and come back around two, we’ll have it ready for you.”

It was eleven now. “That’s nice and easy,” she said.

“We try to be,” Sean said. “When we fill everything out later, there will be a survey at the end that you can give me a high rating for.”

She laughed. “I can do that,” she said.
