“We might be drinking human blood, but the way we feed now is much different from what it’s like to feed on a human. What we have now fills us up, but it doesn’t even come close to what it feels like to drink fresh blood,” Rayen added.

She sighed. “Fine, period blood it is.”

With her mind slowly beginning to clear, she leaned back over the contract.Amon took her cue and continued to explain and go through it with her. After she’d agreed to it, they both signed it and Amon offered to make a phone call to her current boss and try to buy her out. He left the room, and she started working on all the things she would’ve done in the office anyway. Rayen and Silas kept her company, filling up her snacks and reheating her warm water bottle.

Though she could feel their need to taste more of her, she still couldn’t quite wrap her head around it. She was glad they didn’t push her any further. It wasn’t that she wasn’t willing to please them, especially not after she tasted Amon’s blood, but she still felt awkward with it.

“Would you like to buy lunch today? You look tired and it’s already late,” Rayen asked, worriedly eyeing her.

“I like that idea,” she admitted. Even though she hadn’t done much, she felt exhausted.

Rayen lovingly ran his thumb over her cheek. “Do you always feel like this?”

“I usually never have the time to feel like this. And I don’t usually have three vampires swarming me either.”

“We didn’t mean to overwhelm you.”

“I know and it’s not a bad thing, but… well…”

“A lot to get used to,” Silas helped out.

“Yes.”

“We were thinking about taking you on vacation. Somewhere far away from work where you can breathe for a week or two.” Rayen’s voice was soft, and she could hear slight hesitation, though she wasn’t sure why.

“Where would we go?”

“Wherever you like.”

“Where have you always wanted to go?” Silas asked curiously.

“Evangeline and I were saving up for a trip to a beach. Like a nice one with white sand and clear water. Maybe Mexico or something.”

Rayen’s eyes lit up. “We have a beach house in the Caribbean.”

“You do?”

Silas snuggled her slightly tighter. “And if we didn’t, we would buy one.”

“Please don’t do that.”

“She was about to say yes you fucking idiot. Now she won’t agree because she is afraid we’ll buy a house and spend a fuck load of money,” Rayen growled at Silas.

Amon stepped back into the living room an sat down on one of the armchairs. “I can assure you we’ve owned that house before we met you. I talked to Mr. Heming, before you can start work with us he requires you to finish your outstanding project. He informed me that you called in sick and that he doesn’t know when you’ll return or finish the tasks, but he won’t let you go until you do.”

“I’m nearly done with most of it.”

“I’ll assist you in any way you need.”

“Thank you, Amon.”

Amon did as promised and helped with her workload. While Rayen was out buying her a late lunch, she couldn’t stand the feeling of her free-spirited period anymore. She became more irritated by the minute, and Silas’s touch was no longer soothing, rather annoying.

Amon tilted his head and studied her worriedly. “Gwendoline, talk to us.”

“I don’t feel comfortable,” she finally admitted.

Silas shifted from behind her and patted on the couch. “Lay on the couch.”
