Her lips twitched into a barely noticeable grin and pointed at a picture of what seemed to have been taken in a football stadium.

“We only took this picture because her crush was in the background, and she wanted one with him.”

Rayen curiously leaned closer. “Which one?”

Gwen pointed to a young boy with red hair. “Kay.”

“Did you have a crush?”

She leaned closer to the wall, searching the pictures before smiling shyly and pointing out another young boy. “Benji, but he didn’t even know I existed.”

“Ah, so Silas has always been your type,” Rayen chuckled, which only intensified Gwen’s shyness.

Now curious himself, Silas stood behind Gwen and leaned over her shoulder to get a good look at Benji. He was a tall boy with short dark hair, wearing all black.

“I look far better than him.”

Rayen burst out laughing. “You feel the need to compare yourself with a teenager? I thought you had more self-esteem than that.”

Amon stepped closer. “Who did you go out with when it wasn’t your crush?”

“I somewhat dated Collen.” She pointed at a blond tall boy, who looked totally opposite of Benji.

“Who was your first kiss?” Rayen asked, searching the pictures for clues.

“Collen.”

“And your first lover?” Silas asked while possessively wrapping his arms around her shoulders.

Gwen leaned into his touch and looked through the pictures. “I don’t think he’s on here.”

She reached up for a large group picture that seemed to be of the whole school. Squinting her eyes, she searched for the boy that took her virginity.

“Adam, but you can barely make him out.”

Rayen leaned closer looking at Adam. “Why not Collen?”

She shrugged her shoulders. “When I was with him, I wasn’t ready. We broke up before I was. I started dating Adam my senior.”

“And then you were ready?”

“Yes.”

She started taking the pictures off the wall and added them to a small memory box that was decorated with lots of shells and glitter. Here and there she shared the story behind a picture and all three of them eagerly listened to her past adventures. After the pictures were set aside, Gwen moved to Evangeline’s closet. She folded the clothes while allowing them to pack up everything in the room.

“We can take them to my apartment,” Gwen suggested when she closed the last box and added it to the stacks of others.

“We can also take them to the mansion if you like and whenever you’re ready, we can go through them,” Amon countered.

She nodded and looked around the room, her face sad but this time no tears to be seen. “It’s strange. I knew this day would come for eight years. I thought I was prepared. I said my goodbyes then and thought when she left, I would be ready. Even though I knew she’d left me the night of the accident, this hurts so much more than I thought.”

Rayen stepped before her and ran his fingers over her cheek. “Maybe because even with that knowledge deep down you hoped for a miracle and her to return to you. This is far more final than the goodbye eight years ago.”

She inhaled deeply and ran her hand over the bed. “Maybe.”
