In the blink of an eye, Silas stood in front of her. Pushing her up against the doorframe, he took her wrists in his hand and pinned them above her head.

“No riches could ever compare to calling you ours.”

Her heart stopped beating, the air trapped in her lungs while her legs suddenly felt weak.

“I would give up everything as long as you’re by my side.”

With his free hand, he held her jaw, tugging her head to the side. He leaned down and licked over her exposed neck, his tongue leaving a cool but lustful burning path on her skin.

“You’re our most valuable possession.”

“I thought it was the other way around,” she gasped trying to breathe again.

Silas smirked down at her, his lips hovering mere millimeters away from hers. “We’re yours Gwen. The moment you stepped into our lives you had us all wrapped around your precious little finger.”

“We belong to each other,” she whispered and brushed her lips against his.

Silas kissed her and let go of her wrists, allowing her to wrap her arms around his shoulders. The kiss broke when Rayen demanded his share and tugged on her chin, pulling her towards his lips. While she kissed Rayen, sleek fingers ran down her side and she felt complete with Amon next to her. Turning to him, she kissed him too, soaking in the moment with all of them.

She kissed each one of them again before stepping up to Amon’s beach painting and picking up the urn. Silas and Rayen took the suitcases while Amon held the door open.

About an hour later, they arrived at the airport. This time, as she stepped out of the car and into the terminal, she felt like a completely different person. The urn was taken for safekeeping by a crew member while she boarded the plane. Silas and Rayen sat in the same chairs. Amon chose to sit with them this time and sat down next to Gwen. She felt much more at ease, though the flight still scared her slightly.

As if Silas could read her mind, he went to the bar and poured her a glass of wine which she gratefully took.

“Is the house far from the beach?”

“Right on it,” Rayen beamed.

“So, we can go swimming right away?”

“After you put on some sunscreen. Last time you forgot and burned yourself,” Silas reminded her.

“I volunteer as tribute,” Rayen chuckled.

She giggled and looked at Amon trying to picture him in swim trunks. “Sometimes it’s still hard for me to picture you relaxed and casual.”

Rayen tilted his head as if he was trying to remember something. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen Amon in the water.”

“You can’t swim?” Gwen asked concerned.

“I can.”

“Wait…” she slowly said. “You don’t need to breathe, right?”

“We don’t,” Amon confirmed.

“You could dive for hours without having to worry about drowning.”

Silas grinned. “We could.”

“Amazing,” she whispered as her mind had trouble grasping the thought.

While she sipped on her wine, her thoughts trailed off to all the possibilities a vampire had. They basically had no restrictions. The need for money wasn’t there because they didn’t seem to need a home to survive, nor did they have to pay for food. Of course, that thought was slightly terrifying because the cost of their survival was much greater than money.

The more she thought about it, the more intrigued she was. The only thing a vampire had to worry about was their next feed. And even that wasn’t a real worry–there was plenty to spare. Vampires weren’t bound to any law. They could follow them, of course, but who would stop or punish them if they didn’t. As Rayen had told her, they could take whatever they desired from anyone they wanted. The thought of not having to worry about anything anymore was making her heart race in her chest.

“Gwendoline.” Amon’s voice pulled her out of her thoughts. “I wanted to donate to Evangeline’s care home in your names as a thank you for taking such good care of the both of you. Stacy told me how you often found comfort in the nurses who always listened when you weren’t feeling well. I thought their loving care for the both of you needed to be thanked.”
