She stayed as far away from their office as she could all afternoon. Closer to evening, she packed her things but didn’t even get the chance to walk to their office. As she opened her own office door Mr. Seavey was already walking out of theirs like a quiet storm ready to bring on the thunder and lightning at any minute. As he walked past her, the air immediately cooled down, hurting her lungs as she breathed in.

Rayen’s aura was like a relief, the air slightly warming again. “Ready, Ms. Moore?”

She smiled, knowing that he only called her like that in public. “Yes.”

The car ride was pure torture and as soon as it was over, she scrambled to get out of the car. Without looking back at either of them, she rushed to her apartment. She changed into something comfortable and started to prepare her dinner. Just as she plated her food, she heard a knock on the door that led to the main house.

“Come in,” she said out loud as she turned off the stove.

Silas stepped in with her suitcase and dresses in hand.

“Thank you, just leave them right there.”

He nodded and laid the dresses on the couch. “Do your feet still hurt?”

“No, but thank you for asking.”

“Neither of us meant for you to hurt yourself to please us.”

“I know.”

He nodded and walked out, leaving her a little taken aback by his sweetness. She’d suspected him to have a soft spot, but this came unexpected, especially after Mr. Seavey’s behavior. Though it was sweet of him, she also wished he hadn’t said anything at all. She already liked Silas and Rayen more than she should and that would only become a problem later on.

As she climbed out of bed the next morning she sighed, annoyed. Without even noticing, she’d gotten her period and had bled through her panties. She hopped in the shower and washed off her bloody thighs. This explained her edginess and restlessness–she hadn’t even thought about her time of the month.

She quickly dressed and mentally prepared herself for the ice age that was waiting for her in the office. She walked inside and was met with the ice wall she’d tried to prepare for. Wanting to get this over with as soon as possible, she handed out the schedules.

Mr. Seavey didn’t even look at her. “Cancel all our appointments for today.”

“Of course.” She tried to hide her emotions and smiled at him.

Rayen didn’t seem to like the idea but stayed silent while Silas leaned against the wall stiff and unmoving. He’d warmed up the past few days, but in that moment, he reminded her of her first days seeing him.

Without sitting down, she looked at Mr. Seavey. “Is there anything else?”

“No.”

She nodded and left, taking a deep, freeing breath as soon as she closed the door behind her. Even though it was warm she felt chilly. As she walked to her door, she heard a muttered argument explode in the office. Not wanting to seem as if she was spying, she quickly closed her door.

She made sure to cancel all their appointments before driving to the office. It was a huge relief to be able to drive by herself. She could relax and it felt amazing to drive as far away from the mansion as she could.

She hated the fact that she’d pissed him off somehow without even knowing. Now that she’d seen his pissed-off side, the other side seemed like a tame pussy cat. At least before the trip he’d let her do her thing without being intentionally mean and hurtful.

Amon

Amon watched as Gwendoline walked to her car in the driveway. He’d made her cancel all their appointments for the entire week. Rayen hadn’t appreciated that much because it took away his excuse to drive with her.

Guilt spread through his heart as he saw the deep dark rings underneath her eyes. They were his fault. He was the reason she looked so exhausted. His heart ached as he watched her drive off. Since Tuesday she’d left early and returned late, seemingly wanting to be as far away from him as possible. It of course, was his intention to have her feel this way but it didn’t make it easier on him.

She’d gotten so friendly with all three of them that now Amon had to work against it. It was working as she barely talked to Rayen or Silas anymore. Every time they tried her eyes fearfully flickered to him, afraid of his reaction. He knew he was hurting her, but it was for the best.

Turning away from the window, he walked over to the library where Silas and Rayen were hiding from him. Maybe not so much hiding but avoiding him as a punishment. They disliked the way he was treating Gwendoline and didn’t want anything to do with him because of it. They both glared at him, with glowing red eyes. All they wanted to do was to rip his stoned heart out of his chest, behead him, and burn his body.

“Fuck off!” Silas growled.
