“The first thing Manny did was test the tent to see if it was soundproof.”

Elyse’s expression mirrored Killian’s. She’d never been so grateful for Manny’s perversion.

Killian planted his lips on hers, and slowly, he pushed inside her. Elyse gasped at the sensation, and she squeezed his hand tighter.

He started off slow, letting her remember the way he felt, the way he moved, until his entire member was buried inside her completely. Elyse did as she was commanded. As Killian thrust harder, penetrating deeper, she let her exhilaration be known. She whimpered with each surge of his hips, feeling blissful yet needing more. And Killian seemed to feed off it, empowered by every moan and gasp.

He hooked one of her knees around his elbow, then the other, lifting her rear from the bed. “Say my name,” he roared as he pounded with animalistic vigor.

“Killian,” Elyse cried out as pleasure washed over her. Her face contorted and she grasped the linens, clutching with all her might. She gave herself to him completely. Every vulnerable sound, every tremble of her body as he impaled her again and again. Her legs were shaking, her back arching, her release nearing.

“Killian,” she practically screeched, a plea for ecstasy.

Killian understood. Sweat dripped down his chiseled abdomen as he brought her closer to that edge. He locked eyes with her, a feral hunger in his gaze. That look said everything. He was hers, and she was his.

Euphoria swept through Elyse, surging from her core, up her back, through her breasts, her neck, all the way to her fingers and toes. Her legs shook and her lips parted as a silent gasp escaped her throat.

Killian didn’t relent. He drove harder, sending her over that edge again and again until his body shuddered and he let out a sigh.

Elyse immediately pulled him down to her, pressing their lips together. His salty kiss was the most delicious thing she’d ever tasted. Still inside her, he buried his face in her neck. Their chests moved together, searching for breath as they waited for their racing hearts to slow.

When she regained control of her trembling limbs, Elyse lifted a hand and stroked her nails along Killian’s powerful back. She was utterly exhausted, and yet she knew she wouldn’t sleep any time soon. She wanted every second with Killian.

He seemed to sense her thoughts. He lifted his head, a sweet smile playing at his lips as he took her in.

“I’m not going anywhere,” he murmured. The sweetest words Elyse had ever heard.

Chapter 47

- Killian -

They talked for hours, their heads sharing the same pillow, their bodies pressed close. Killian trailed his fingers up and down the length of Elyse’s arm, a languid, protective movement. She tangled her feet around his legs as they murmured to one another, their voices nearly inaudible.

Eventually, Sera and Manny entered the tent, retiring to their own private space, and Jaime followed shortly after. Soft snores echoed through the tent, but Killian hardly noticed. He was too entranced by Elyse’s whispers.

“I missed you,” she breathed again and again. “I missed this.”

“Me too,” Killian uttered as he pulled her closer by the small of her back.

Elyse quietly explained everything, about how she had been struck by his arrow and transported herself to Jaime’s doorstep. Killian pressed his head to her brow as shame overwhelmed him. He had fired an arrow at her, at his Elyse, without even listening to what she was trying to tell him. Out of everything that had happened, that was what he regretted the most.

Elyse lifted a delicate finger to his chin and tilted his face up to hers. “Right now,” she demanded, “let’s both promise to forgive ourselves.”

Her finger grazed the line of his jaw, and he closed his eyes. In that moment, Elyse could have asked him to go back into the forest to face the walker, and he would have done it. But forgiving himself for not even attempting to hear her out, for shooting an arrow at her…

She gently took his hand and held it to her chest. He felt the soothing, rhythmic beat of her heart.

“Promise me, Killian.”

There was no denying her. His eyes still closed, he pressed his lips to hers. “I promise.”

“I promise, too.”

She stroked his hair as they nestled together, and her breathing slowed. He thought she had drifted off to sleep when her voice rasped into the night.

“Ask me about my surname.”

Killian opened his eyes to find Elyse staring at him. He could ask her anything, and the blood oath would force her to tell the truth. In the darkness, he studied her eyes, searching for certainty.
