“Vincenzo, how long do you plan on hating me?”

“Playing the victim again?” he taunted.

“Better than playing the asshole,” I spat. I grabbed my purse and stood.

Vincenzo grabbed my arm. “Sit down.”

“I need to use the restroom.”

“I’m not falling for another of your escape plans.”

I parked a hand on my hip. “You don’t believe me.”

“The past few months have proved you a liar.”

“Come with me.”

Surprised swept across his face. “What?”

“Come to the restroom and stand outside.”

He sighed. “Go ahead.”

I didn’t miss the flash of lust in his eyes as he checked me out in my little black backless dress. I hadn’t had sex in months, and that look was causing a throbbing between my legs.

The server appeared and placed our food on the table. I smiled, thanked her, and headed to the back to refresh my makeup.

Exiting the bathroom a few minutes later, I paused in the hallway when I saw a familiar face. Gianney, a friend of Mark’s. My eyes darted to our table in the corner. Vincenzo’s back was to the door. The guards stood a short distance away outside. I needed to move quickly.

Another waitress came from the kitchen, holding a tray.

I slowly stopped and blocked her from moving. “Excuse me, do you know how to get in touch with the owner of the restaurant?”

“Is something wrong with your meal?” she asked as I’d hoped she might.

“No, I wanted to ask if you all catered. The food is delicious.”

“Yes, we cater. I can get your information after I drop these plates off.”

“You know, that would be wonderful. Let me walk with you.” I snapped my fingers as suddenly remembering something. “I just remembered you have business cards up front. I’ll grab one from there.”

She walked up to the front with me, and I slipped to the right toward the table where I’d seen Mark’s friend being escorted.

He raised his eyes as I stopped at his table. “Nyla?”

“Yeah. Can we talk?” I glanced at his girlfriend, knowing I only had a few minutes before Vincenzo noticed I was missing.

“About what?”

“Mark.”

“Nyla.”

I jumped at Vincenzo’s voice.

Gianney's face fell.

“How do you know him?” Vincenzo asked me.
