Christopher clicked off the phone and held his breath. He pushed his chair back and stood, snarling. With one sweep of his arm, he tossed everything off the top of his desk, including the computer. Enraged, he could only think of one thing, destroying Stephen Drummand, even if it meant killing the man.

“Mr. Worth. Are you okay?” Jennifer rushed into the room. She slunk back seeing the destruction.

“Fine. Just fine. Leave me alone.”

She hesitated.

“I said leave. Me. Alone!” The bellow was hollow, full of rage.

Shaking, she nodded and back peddled out of his office, clamming the door.

He paced back and forth, formulating a plan. First things first. He needed relief.

Fingering his phone, he dialed Jade’s number. When she didn’t answer right away, he growled. “Bitch.”

“Darling. Is that any way to talk to me?” Jade chuckled after a few seconds.

“I want a meeting with Des… Skyler tonight. Do you hear me?”

“She’s already engaged. You don’t have an exclusive arrangement with her, Christopher.”

He stopped pacing and tried to calm his ragged breathing. “Listen to me very carefully. I pay you a hell of a lot of money to help keep that club of yours with all the finer aspects of life.”

“Now you want to act like my partner. What happened to arm’s length?” she asked sarcastically.

“If you weren’t fucking up a lucrative business, I wouldn’t have to interfere. We can talk about my involvement later and who perhaps leaked the information. As for tonight, you will have her come to me. Do you understand what I’m saying to you?”

Jade exhaled. “Very well, but you’re losing it, Chris. You’re a hindrance to the club and my bet is to your own business. People are talking about you as well as your anger issues.”

“My anger issues?” he hissed. “You have no idea what you’re talking about.” A sharp pain rushed into his temples. He winced and slapped his hand on the desk. “I gave you a start when you nothing but a two-bit whore. Now you have money, clout and an extensive client list. That’s all that matters to you as we both know. You belong to me just like the rest of the whores in the establishment, including Dr. Blade. Am I clear enough now?” He counted to five when she didn’t answer. “I repeat. Am I clear?”

“Very. I’ll cancel her appointment.”

“Good. You tell her the asshole canceled and nothing more.”

“Chris, whatever is going on with you, I suggest you come to terms with. I don’t appreciate your particular brand of abuse,” she hissed.

“Abuse. You have no idea what you’re talking about. Bottom line. Earn your keep or I’ll throw you out on your ass. Bring her to me and you know exactly where.” He bristled and tossed the phone down on his desk. She didn’t seem to understand her place, much like the rest of the women who worked in the club.

He let out a long breath and counted to ten then brushed both hands through his hair. Now wasn’t the time to come unraveled. He needed to be clear headed. One night with Destiny would take care of everything. He closed his eyes and thought about her. Yes, she might be able to calm the beast.

Dear God, he hoped so.

Twenty minutes later, Destiny answered the phone without looking at the number. “This is Skyler.”

“Change of plans. Your date for the evening has cancelled.”

“Who is it?” Montana whispered.

She placed her hand over the phone. “Mistress Jade.”

“Are you still there?” Jade asked.

“I’m here. I don’t understand. Does he not want me?” Destiny tried to sound nonchalant.

“That’s not the point. He had something come up. I’m certain he’ll request your services at another time. I’ll call you when and if that occurs.” Jade stated then ended the call.
