“Are you out of your fucking mind?” Montana glared at her, his heart racing. He was so angry his blood pressure was jetting to a precarious level.

Sighing, Destiny fiddled with her glass. “I don’t honestly know. I thought I could handle the situation. I was stupid enough to believe I was ready. When I was there, with this man, I was just out of my element.”

“What do you mean there?”

“I accepted an invitation to his house.”

“Jesus Fucking Christ! You could have gotten yourself killed!” Montana couldn’t believe what he was hearing.

“I know. Just stop. Okay? I know I was stupid to play sleuth, but there was more. I wanted to experience just a single moment of letting go, having someone else take the dominant lead. I needed to find out about this side of me. I know you can’t understand. I thought it was safe.”

“You thought? I would hope Ms. Devereaux would take certain precautions. What happened?” But he did understand and the part of him longing to be the dominant in a relationship continued to breech the surface of his very soul.

She took a gulp of her wine. “Nothing in the way of him trying to kill me. There are supposedly checks and balances. Mistress Jade assured me this particular Dom had been vetted out. Besides, he wanted to spank me. He was supposedly very good. He was going slowly, knowing I was new. He seemed kind and offered to train me.”

“Train you.” He was shaking.

“Yep. Everything was going fine. I was even enjoying,” she said and laughed.

“Then?”

She hesitated.

“Talk to me!”

“Just wait. Stop. He didn’t do anything. That wasn’t the issue.”

“Then what was?” he demanded.

“I heard something or maybe I sensed something is more accurate.”

“Something?” Hairs stood up on the back of his neck.

Shifting, Destiny moved the glass back and forth in her hands. “A muffled sound, like a woman who was gagged. I didn’t see another car, but there was a garage, so... I know there was someone behind a set of double doors. I could almost feel anguish and such tremendous fear. The room reeked of perfume and testosterone. I was stifled by another smell, more like a stench, but as soon as I detected it, the odor was gone. I was suddenly sick to my stomach and had to get out of there.”

“So you believe there was foul play?”

“I’m not certain. I told you this just might be a feeling or maybe a product of my fear, but I left before anything really happened. I just thought you should know, maybe check this guy out.”

“You were right to tell me. Who is he?” Montana pulled out his phone.

“Who are you calling?”

“My partner. To check this guy out.”

“I don’t know his real name. We all use fake names for privacy reasons,” she laughed nervously and sipped her wine.

He set down the glass. “Skyler?”

She nodded. “I had to have a name.”

“Where was this meeting?”

“At his house.”

“Then I think we need to check out if the guy is on the up and up. Don’t you?” Montana kept his look stern. She had no understanding of just how much danger she was in.

“I guess. What if I’m wrong?”
