The spaces he walked through were lit by low lamps that gave her brief glimpses of impeccable taste and decor. And even if they were fully lit, she wouldn’t have taken proper note.

Because the drugging effect of his lips on her neck made her eyes too heavy to keep open, every self-preserving instinct paused while she drifted through nirvana.

But when he reached his destination and set her down, she roused long enough to note they were in a vast, supremely masculine bedroom, the greys and whites and chrome from before echoed throughout the space.

And then Seve was commanding her attention again, sensual promise in the hands that drew her to his body, in the fingers that spiked back into her hair, and in the lips descending on hers.

A fleeting thoughtun-paused her consciousness for the briefest moment.

Was she really doing this? Agitating an already unsettling evening with sexual chemistry?

Yes.

A brush of his firm lips on hers. ‘These lips have driven me crazy all day.’

Genie hung onto her cogency long enough to challenge him. Because she’d learned something new this evening. Sheenjoyedsparring intellectually with him. ‘Why? Because you don’t like what they had to say?’

He laughed, and the sound filled her with even more impossible yearning. ‘On the contrary. I relished every word because they intrigued me. Far too much. They also made me want to do more of this.’

He swooped down and recaptured her lips, stoking the fervour already churning in her midriff. She’d had minimal health issues in her life, but Genie recalled one particularly virulent fever she’d had one winter. This sensation was like that but in a much moreexcitingway. A way that made her crave more of it. Made her want to burn with it. Because every logical deduction promised an explosive outcome.

And she so wanted to explode.

‘More,’ she gasped when he lifted his head.

He didn’t deliver. Instead his eyes narrowed, his blazing gaze promising things she couldn’t quite fathom but actively craved. ‘Beg me,’ he commanded gruffly. ‘Beg me for what you want, Genie.’

It should’ve been nonsensical. Illogical.

He was denying them both what they plainly wanted. She wasn’t delusional enough to have conjured up the need she saw stamped boldly on his face. And yet he was asking her to degrade herself. To lower herself...

So why did she want to?

Why did the very thought of it send further flames leaping through her bloodstream, intensifying the chemical reaction to this man?

A slow, conceited smile spread over his lips. Lips reddened and slightly swollen from devouring hers. ‘The idea turns you on, doesn’t it?’

Self-preservation dictated she deny it, but she hesitated.

Let’s always be honest with each other.

‘Why does it?’ she asked instead.

‘Because your instincts tell you it will heighten your experience. Both our experiences. You yearn to say it. I need to hear it. Sometimes it’s as simple as that.’

Was it?

She’d never begged for anything in her life. Not even the affection and regard her parents had cruelly denied her. Despite it being the hardest thing she’d ever done, she’d smothered those impulses until they were buried deep. Not deep enough to rescue her from the pain of their actions but enough so no one could guess her torment. Her abject loneliness.

Would it have been as simple as voicing the words? Pleading for what she wanted?

Or was she slapping a simplistic solution on a deeper problem? Didn’t the textbooks and renowned experts state that affection should be freely offered, not fought or shamed for?

Fingers trailed down her neck and she shivered free from her unsettling wondering.

Thiswasdifferent.

This was sexual desire.
