Seve Valente sat back on the sofa and patted his strong, muscled thighs. ‘Allow me?’

And because every muscle in her body attempted to strain towards him in total compliance, she folded her arms again and raised an eyebrow. ‘You’re an expert on foot massages?’

‘Why don’t I let you be the judge?’

She was aware her eyes had grown comically wide. That her pulse was racing much faster than it had moments ago. The baby kicked again. She dropped a hand, laid it on the swell of her stomach, but there was no calming her boisterous baby.

‘I see I have an ally,’ he said with supreme smugness, his eyes lingering on her belly.

Then, without waiting for a response, Seve rose, picked up the spa and walked out of the room with it towards her bathroom.

The thought that he meant to conduct the massage himself settled in deep, making that tingling a full-bodied event that had no logic whatsoever. But, goodness, it was...addictively good.

By the time he returned to the sofa, sat down and patted his thighs once more, Genie had stopped battling with herself.

Intensely aware of her breathlessness, she angled her body and raised her legs.

Strong fingers curled around her ankle to settle her lower limbs on his legs. The scent of geranium and marjoram drifted through the air as he poured a measure into his hands, warmed it up in his large palms. Then glided them over the top of her foot.

Genie caught her lip between her teeth, barely containing the moan before it slipped free. From the first, his touch had aroused and excited her. Despite this being a stress-relieving kindness on his part, this time was no different for her.

More, it quickly turned into an erotic adventure she hadn’t had a single inkling about until the sight of his oiled hands on her feet threatened to induce hyperventilation.

She blushed when the next moan slipped free.

Eyes like molten mercury met hers, the slight parting of his lips making her wish they were devouring her. Dear heaven, what was wrong with her?

Her brain was tired of answering the question so all she heard was the rushing of blood through her ears, and all she could do was grip the edges of her robe with one hand, and surreptitiously bite down on her fist as his expert fingers dissolved the tightness in her with acupuncture accuracy.

It was so good that when her spine melted, she didn’t protest. When her nipples tightened, she didn’t bother to hide them. It was no use.

Seve knew his effect on her.

‘You look like a very fertile enchantress,’ he observed thickly. ‘A lesser man would be begging for you to cast a spell on him.’

A shade of disappointment threatened to douse the pleasure zinging through her body. ‘You’re not one of those, of course?’

His barely there smile looked strained around the edges. ‘We agreed that any begging between us would be done by you, querida. Not me.’

‘And you’re set on not straying from that course,señor?’

He glanced down at her feet, a pinched look invading his features as he stroked his thumb between her first and second toes.

A rough sound left his throat as he followed the movement and shifted in his seat.

It was then that she got a better idea of what was happening to him too. The hard bulge in between his legs against the arch of her foot. The breath hissing between his teeth. The heavy rise and fall of his chest.

With clear reluctance, he caressed her arches one more time, then rose from the sofa. Watching him wipe off his hands, she prepared herself for his departure, but he only dragged fingers through his hair before striding to the other side of the room.

‘Should I ask if something is wrong or wait for you to volunteer it?’

‘There’s something else you need to know. My uncle is attending the wedding.’

The uncle who’d made his childhood hell and was intent on damaging Cardosia just as badly? Genie stiffened. ‘Why? You owe him nothing. Am I missing something? I can tell you’re not particularly thrilled about it.’

‘I’m not,’ he bit out, his jaw clenched. ‘And I didn’t invite him. Lita did. I can’t uninvite him without causing unnecessary drama.’

Genie frowned. ‘But she knows what he did to you. Why would she?’
