She looked really sad.

“Do you love him that much?” I asked.

“I don't know,” she answered without hesitation. “This is the first time anyone's made me feel like this, and it's scary. I can't go a day without something bringing us both together. I'm afraid. I really am. I don't want to seem too weak.”

She paused and then continued, “I can say words that hurt him. Believe me, I've done it a lot of times unconsciously. I don't even know why I do it. But I…”

“I know you've been in a lot of relationships,” she sighed. “I just thought that you would know how to help me. I'm sorry I kept calling you a skank and other rude things. It's hypocritical to ask you for help.”

It was hypocritical indeed. If it were the old times, I would have done something sinister before teaching her anything. But I could feel her sincerity. She was desperately trying to change, even if it meant asking me of all persons.

Love changes people, I guess.

“Fine,” I sighed. “I'll teach you.”

Her eyes lit up, “Really?”

“Yes,” I looked away.

“Thank you,” she said, then opened her arms.

“What are you doing?” I asked.

“It's a hug,” she explained.

“I know what a hug is. I'm asking why you're planning to hug me,” I responded.

“You should just give it a try,” she urged me.

I was not too fond of it. She was acting way too different, and it was throwing me off. I'm not going to lie: the sound of a hug from a family member didn't sound that bad. I opened my arms and hugged her. It felt different from other hugs. It was the first time I had hugged a family member, and it was warm. My sister felt squishy and soft; she smelled good, too.

We let each other go and stared at ourselves blankly for a few seconds before bursting into laughter.

“That was very weird,” I said.

“I know, right?” she agreed. “But it felt okay, I guess.”

“Want to try it with the boys? George would melt out of pure happiness,” I suggested.

“I think I just want to start small,” she explained.

“Calling me small again,” I mocked and punched her shoulder playfully.

“Sorry, sorry,” she muttered and laughed.

It was a strange sensation, but it was the first time we had shown physical affection for each other. And I didn't mind it at all.

“So what's the first lesson?” she asked with vigor.

Coincidental Meeting

Tabitha

“And ask him for help,” Helena said. “You mentioned he put things in place at your hospital.”

“But it’s my hospital,” I said stubbornly.
