She hesitates, then nods, her cheeks flushing. “It’s... exciting, in a way I didn’t expect. But does being your wife mean I have to obey you in everything?”

I chuckle, a sound deep from my chest. “Well, that’s traditionally how it works. But I suspect you’ll find some aspects of obedience... enjoyable.”

Her gaze holds mine, a mix of defiance and curiosity. “And what aspects would those be?”

I move closer, my voice dropping to a whisper. “The kind that involves you surrendering to your desires, to my desires.”

Her breath hitches, her body language revealing her inner turmoil – a dance of reluctance and longing. “And if I refuse?”

I reach out, tracing a finger along her jawline. “You won’t. Deep down, you want this as much as I do. You’re attracted to the danger, to the power. To me. That much was evident in the car just now.”

She bites her lip, clearly conflicted, yet the flicker in her eyes betrays her. “But I’m... I’ve never been with a man before.”

“That only makes it even more enticing,” I reply, my desire for her growing. “I’ll be your first. And as I promised, you’ll enjoy every moment of it.”

I lean forward, my voice dropping to a low, dominant tone. “Until Orlov is dead, you are mine. You will obey my every command.”

She sighs, a flicker of frustration crossing her face. “Are you trying to frighten me? I’m frightened enough as it is.”

I shake my head. “You have no need to fear me.”

“It’s not you I fear.”

“Then what is it?”

She picks up her glass, draining the contents. “Doesn’t matter. Is this how you always work? I thought you mafia bosses just shot anyone who argued with you.”

“Being a mafia boss isn’t just about power and fear,” I reply, observing her reaction. “It’s about maintaining authority, showing no weakness. Every day is a battle – a game of chess where the stakes are life and death.”

She leans in, her eyes reflecting a mixture of intrigue and caution. “It sounds exhausting,” she says softly.

“It can be,” I admit. “But it’s the life I’ve chosen. Or perhaps, the life that chose me.” I pause, taking a sip of my wine. “And now, it’s a life you’re part of.”

She shifts uncomfortably. “I never imagined being a part of something like this. It’s all so... overwhelming.”

I lean closer, our knees almost touching. “But you’re not just a part of it. You’re a part of me now. My dolcezza. My wife. My responsibility.” The words hang in the air, a declaration of my claim over her.

“So, I’m just another one of your assets?” she asks, a hint of defiance in her tone.

I chuckle, a deep sound that fills the room. “Not just an asset. You’re my queen in this game. And a good chess player protects his queen with everything they have.”

Her eyes lock onto mine. “And what does protecting your queen entail?”

“Anything and everything,” I reply earnestly. “It means keeping you safe, yes. But it also means making sure you have what you need, what you desire.” I reach out, my finger tracing a line down her arm. “And right now, I can see need in your eyes.”

She pulls back slightly, a blush creeping up her cheeks. “You think you know what I need?”

I smile, confident in my read on her. “I think you’re curious. About me, about this life. And about what it means to be with a man like me.”

She looks down, then back up at me through her lashes. “And if I said I was scared of you?”

“Then I’d say that’s normal,” I respond gently. “But know this. I may be a mafia boss, but with you, I promise gentleness. And patience. You’re new to my world, and I’ll guide you through it. But you must obey me if you want to stay safe.”

She nods, swallowing and making me want to kiss her neck more than anything in the world.

“Let’s test this,” I continue. “Stand up.”

She obeys at once, setting her book down and getting to her feet quickly. “That was easy,” she says, folding her arms across her chest. “Have I passed the test?”
