Kozien was pulled back, and at first, he wasn’t trying that hard to get free. Gianna had stayed calm, and he didn’t want to ruin her cover, but they kept pulling him farther back.

He realized they were taking him around the corner, and he couldn’t watch where they were going to take her. He really started fighting back at that point. He needed to see where they were taking Gianna.

He threw one of the guys hard into the wall, a snarl leaving his lips, “Where are you taking her?” he snapped, about ready to rip the man’s head off.

The other man jumped and shoved him hard against the wall, knocking the other guy free. The man slipped through his grasp and wiggled himself to freedom.

The other guy hit Kozien over the head, causing him to tumble while trying to catch himself. In that split few seconds, the man backed up and jumped onto some hover zoomers that were sitting by the side.

This was planned. This entire thing was planned out, which pissed him off to no end. Kozien hadn’t seen it coming.

He stormed back up the road to find that Gianna was gone. He gripped his hands into tight fists, and his eyes fell on his brothers’ sign. He was going to get his brothers’ help, whether they wanted to assist him or not.

He threw the doors open as he walked back into the building. He stormed down the hallway, right back to his brother’s office. Grux was seated at his desk on the phone. He glanced up at Kozien and placed a finger up.

Kozien grabbed the phone and hit the button to hang up. His brother’s eyes widened, and he snapped at him, “Seriously! I was on an important call.”

“Not as important as this one is about to be.” Kozien grabbed his brother, ripping him out of his chair. He slammed his brother’s back hard against the wall, and Grux grunted, trying to shove Kozien off. There was no point—Kozien was stronger and bigger.

“What the fuck?” his brother snarled, pissed now. “Get off! What the hell is your problem?”

“Why the fuck did you tell Gianna I was using her to get other clients that were going to pay?”

Grux’s eyes widened, and he shot Kozien an annoyed frown. “Is that what you’re so pissed about?”

“No!” Kozien snarled, leaning closer to his brother’s face. “I have a lot of other shit on my plate, but you are at the fucking top because you’re an asswipe! Why would you tell her that? Why did you lie to her?”

His brother rolled his eyes like Kozien was acting out of line. “Because. You were going to do all of this pro bono bullshit, and it’s clear you were doing it to piss me off. Besides, it wasn’t entirely wrong. Her case is supposed to bring in more clients, but she has no money to offer you. Just move on already, Kozien. You’re only going to hurt the poor girl in the end.”

Kozien shoved his brother hard against the wall once more before he let go. Grux coughed, rubbing at his chest and scowled at Kozien, furious.

“She isn’t just some girl, Grux. She’s my mate, and I will die before I let anything happen to her, including anything you or Trigg do. So, you either help me or stay the fuck out of my way.”

He turned and stormed out. Kozien left the building, knowing where he was headed.

If he wanted to figure out where they were taking Gianna, he wasn’t standing back and just listening. No, he was going to be himself and get what he wanted one way or another.

He arrived at the shady part of town, glancing over everyone he saw. He watched people, trying to calculate who would be working for the D’Narvius.

He knew he didn’t have a lot of spare time on his hands, so he had one shot. He needed to make sure he found someone who would tell him what he wanted. He wasn’t afraid to break bones if necessary.

He watched drug dealers go by and couldn’t find one scared enough to leak the information he wanted. He watched a few girls walk the streets and grew frustrated. It felt like a lost cause.

Suddenly, his eyes landed on Oliver. He knew that Oliver’s hands weren’t clean in this. Oliver had told Kozien that Gabe had gone missing because of the D’Narvius. He had fed Kozien and Gianna pieces of information, setting this up all perfectly.

They both thought he was being a good friend, but it was so clear now to Kozien that Oliver was part of the gang, willing to sell others out to save his own skin. If anyone was going to tell him what he wanted, it would behim.

He stormed up the road until Oliver turned, seeing him approach. He gave Kozien a smile until Kozien grabbed him by the neck of his shirt and slammed him against the wall.

“Where did they take her?” he snarled, choking the man slightly. “And don’t fucking lie to me!”

“What are you talking about?” Oliver struggled against him, trying to wiggle free.

“Gianna! They have her, and I need to know where they took her! You’re going to spill everything.”

His eyes widened and he shook his head quickly. “I can’t just tell you whatever you want to know. I’ll be dead.”

Kozien narrowed his eyes. “Maybe a broken hand will sway your ungiving nature.”
