I focus on my task as I skirt around the edges of her mind. I see her bent over the table in the library just as she is now and myself between her legs on my knees, licking her the way I did in bed the other day.

But that abruptly changes to me standing over her with my hand on her back the way that I’m positioned now. I mimic the actions that I see myself performing in my mind and

I hear her small gasp as I ease my finger in and out of her, turning my wrist. I don't go straight for the spot that Grey found, though. Instead, I pump my lone finger in and out a few times until her wetness begins to grow.

With my other hand, I redirect some of her slick to her front, where I begin to play with the small nub at the apex of her thighs.

She shifts under my hands, holding in a whimper, and I hear murmurs as the council members talk amongst themselves.

Emboldened, I begin to move my fingers a little faster. Now that I can tell that she’s deep in her mind’s eye, I want to get this finished before she remembers where she is.

I watch her imagine that my one finger becomes two, so I slide the one I have working in her to her entrance and stretch it slightly with two fingers. She moans loudly, her hips moving backward for more. I don't put both inside her, though. She’s too tight, and I won’t want to hurt her. I ease my middle finger back into her and turn my wrist, mimicking what Grey did yesterday that elicited such delightful sounds from her.

Her mouth opens on a small but high-pitched cry, and I begin to rub her bud faster with the pads of my fingers, my light touch becoming firmer and my circles becoming tighter.

I hook my middle finger inside of her, and I find that raised pattern of flesh that Grey was talking about, successfully keeping a satisfied smile off my face when she begins to make small, inarticulate sounds that she can't seem to keep inside. Her fingernails mark the table as I work her faster and a little harder, and she breaks around me with a loud cry suddenly as her pleasure crashes down. Her body arches off the table, but I make her stay where she is, drawing out her bliss until it properly subsides.

I remove my hands and give her a small pat on the arse.

‘Very good,’ I drawl. ‘Do you feel better, Lia?’

‘Yes, sir,’ she says in a whispered, monotone voice.

I slowly draw down her skirt and leave her where she is, even though every fiber of my being wants to carry her the fuck out of this place now that we’ve proved what they wanted us to. But I don’t do anything except affect a bored expression as I look towards the council members, who are all nodding and conferring quietly with each other.

I share a hopeful look with Grey and Dane, who are standing close by. Lia’s panting over the table, blinking rapidly, and I know she's close to tears. I draw a hand soothingly down her back gently, giving Merrick a shrug when he notices.

‘Releasing the poor little thing always makes her a bit emotional,’ I remark, and he nods sagely as he looks down condescendingly at what’s mine.

I resist the urge to kill every single one of them, and I’m only able to hold back because she slowly moves her hand back on the table to brush her fingers against mine.

I look down at her with a blank expression, but I decide then and there that no matter where we end up, she’s going to be mine tonight.

CHAPTER SIXTEEN

My mind is numb, and my legs are shaky as I’m told to rise. I stand in silence with my eyes locked on the floor, not really hearing the voices droning on until my ears pick up Merrick’s.

‘I think we can all agree that you’ve more than satisfied Healer Reyn’s objections to you leaving with your human female,’ he says.

‘We’re very glad to hear that,’ Dane says. ‘To be honest, I thought he’d be here to lend his expertise to the proceedings.’

Merrick coughs, glancing at the others. ‘Yes, well, the good healer doesn’t usually rise before ten, and we thought it best to get this out of the way early …’

‘I see,’ Dane says smoothly. ‘In that case, would you be so kind as to return this book to him? Please do thank him for us. It’s been so useful.’

‘Of course. Here.’ Merrick hands Dane a parchment. ‘This is the Writ for you to present to the Gate Guard when you leave. I’m told that the Breach is at a particularly high strength at the moment, so today might be best to travel, depending on how far you have to go. You might be able to lower your amount of trips to get to your destination, which, of course, is better for your human.’

‘Thank you, Councilor Merrick.’ He gives Merrick and the others a small bow. ‘Councilors.’

I find myself being ushered out of the room quickly, and we’re suddenly outside.

‘How long?’ Grey hisses.

‘Five minutes.’

He snarls, and I glance at him. His eyes aren’t right, and his skin is rippling. ‘Grey?’

‘Ignore him,’ Kallum mutters. ‘Get yourself under control, Grey, for fuck’s sake. Five minutes. That’s all!’
