I feel Porter pull at my shoulder, making me step back, and he takes my spot and marks her himself.
Then he takes her mouth in a deep kiss.
“I missed you, baby,” he says. I step closer, leaning in and taking a kiss for myself.
Porter rights her dress, and I bend down to pick up her panties and the bag she’d dropped.
“You want to tell us what was so important you had to run out at night to get?” I ask, still not happy that she went out past dark and parked off to the side of the store. She knows better. To top it off, she’s wearing one of her little sundresses. She’s only allowed to wear them at home. Shit’s way too short for any place.
She bites her lips and looks down, but Porter puts his finger under her chin and lifts her head.
“I got excited.” We both just look at her, not knowing what she’s talking about. “I mean, I was going over my calendar and I realized…” She stops, and Porter looks over at me like I know what she’s trying to say.
Her eyes go to the bag in my hand. I open it and see an open box inside. I reach in and grab it. It’s an empty pregnancy test box. I stare at her. Porter does too when he realizes what I’m holding. That’s when I see the stick in her hand. She must have taken it in the store.
She holds it up.
“I’m pregnant.”
Porter cups her face, taking her mouth in a deep kiss.
Fuck yes.
