Page 22 of His Brave Girl

I quickly type up my text as I’m locked back inside the room, sitting on the bed in a frustrated huff while the girls practically block the door.

Me:My prison guards won’t let me come and suck you off, babe. You need to get down here with the guys and break me free ;)

Kyler:On our way.

I tuck my phone away and smirk. And not more than a minute later, they’re banging down the door.

Ruby goes to answer it and all I hear is, “No! Babe, put me down!” Before I see her carried down the hall. Sophie jumps up to see what’s going on and she’s swept away too, kicking and screaming.

“Have fun, ladies! You can thank me later,” I shout before a sexy-as-hell, seriously hungry man comes to stand in the doorway.

“Damn, Pres.” His eyes run down my body as he enters my room. “How is it that you get sexier every damn time I see you?” He shuts the door, leaning back against the frame, and my stomach flutters.

“Mmm…Mr. Kyler Scott Jacobs, I was just about to say the same thing about you.” I stand and sashay my way over to him, making sure he gets the full view of the tight dress I’m wearing. The girls and I decided to go dancing tonight, but we were so sick of guys hitting on us that we called it an early night. “So, what did you guys do tonight?” I ask, running my fingers down his rigid chest. Wishing the sweater wasn’t in my way.

“We ran a few errands, then grabbed a couple of beers at the bar downstairs.”

“Errands?” That doesn’t sound like a fun way to spend the night before your wedding day.

“Yeah, I had something I needed to get for my girl. But I’m not telling you what it is. And the guys needed to grab some stuff too.”

“You’re being awfully vague, Kyler Scott.” I run my hand down to his cock. “Maybe you don’t want to have your dick sucked after all.” I give him a hard squeeze, and his head falls back on his shoulders, banging against the door with a thump.

“Fuck, babe. You don’t play fair,” he groans. “Fine. I’ll tell you one thing. But the rest you’ll have to wait until tomorrow.” His breaths pick up as I stroke him through his slacks. “We had to go pick up a ring because someone’s getting proposed to tomorrow.”

“What? Oh my gosh,” I squeal. Sophie’s getting engaged. Ruby is already locked down so that’s how I know which of my friends is the lucky girl. I jump into Kyler’s arms, and he catches me up around his hips.

After what Maddock did to Soph, I’d always worried she’d never bounce back. But she did. And she did it with a vengeance, too. Turns out, she’s dating Maddock’s number-one rival. Who is now my soon-to-be husband’s teammate, and also one of Kyler’s closest friends. The look on Maddock’s face when he saw us all at the football game was priceless. And when Sophie told the jerk that she forgave him for what he did and understood that his insecurities over having a small dick are what turned him into a bully, I burst out laughing. It was one of the best moments ever. And now one of my dearest friends is getting engaged.

Goodness, I’m so excited for her.

I reach for Kye’s zipper and start to pull it down but he stops me. “Patience, little bird. First, I want to give you something.” He hands me an envelope, and I cock my brow.

“I was kind of hoping for a pearl necklace,” I tease.

He leans down and takes a nip of my lips. “That’s your second present. But open this one first.”

I open the envelope and tucked inside is the comic book he’d made me all those years ago when he gave me his promise ring. He added pages after he proposed to me with the giant diamond. And now I see that he’s added another page. But I’m a bit confused because there are no words. It’s just an outline of a house and written in the center of the page is “Brave Girl’s Lair.”

“Turn the page, babe.”

I flip the page and a gasp falls from my lips. There’s a picture of his childhood home with a sold sign out in front of it.

“Baby,” he says, scooting in closer and wrapping around my waist. “The best memories of my life were in that house with you. Every time I picture our future together, it’s always in that house. Now, I know it might not be what you want so I’m telling you we don’t have to live in it if you don’t want to, but when I saw it go up on the market, I couldn’t let it go. I wanted it to be ours. Whether it’s a permanent spot for us or a vacation home, I thought it’d be nice for our kids to be able to grow up next to their grandad and be able to build memories there like we did. But the choice is yours. You get to decide what we do with it, but it’s ours now.”

I’m speechless. I don’t know how Kyler can still take my breath away after all these years, but he does. Every day, he goes out of his way to make me feel special. This… this is the most incredible thing anyone has ever done for me.

“Thank you, Kye. It’s the most perfect present.” I press a kiss to his lips, beyond thankful that in less than twenty-four hours, he’ll be mine. “So, when can we move in?”

I’m ready to start my life with him and make all of those dreams of his come true. Just like he’s made mine.
