I have some…unexpected things I plan to do to those two before they get to their wedding but as usual what I plan and what the characters want to do often end up being different things. I’m super-excited to get back to Murphy and Heidi though. I think one of my very favorite things about writing this series is watching how some of the characters grow and change over the course of the series. Maybe I’m just not a good enough writer to make it happen in 300 or 400 pages, I don’t know. I definitely see people complain about multiple books about the same characters, but I’ve learned to shrug and move on. They’re just not my readers and that’s cool.
I sure do love catching up with all my other characters. Heidi is one of my favorites because we’ve watched her grow so much and I just adore her.
Then of course, we have Teller. He was kind of a cranky dick in Zero Regret. And someone said to me, “What’s his problem? He shouldn’t be like this now.”
Oh no? Why not? He went through some pretty life-altering news in After Glow. I think he’s entitled to some crankiness. Plus, he was always a smart-mouthed asshole. Just because he finally found his soulmate, doesn’t mean he’ll suddenly be perfect. I mean, isn’t that the point of finding your soulmate in the first place? Finding the one person who can put up with your bullshit and still love you anyway? I just want to hug Teller. And maybe write another book for him one day.
Yes, I’m aware I may have an unhealthy attachment to my characters and I make absolutely zero apologies for it.

After White Lies…I’m not sure. I really want to write Grinder’s story. I’m so excited about it and I think it’s time he’s finally released from prison! Then poor Dex sure has been waiting for a while. But Rooster! Oh, he just came out of nowhere and stole my heart! Shelby too! The support club is coming and I think you are going to absolutely love these guys! (You’ve already met Griff in Beyond Reason, Warnings & Wildfires, and Zero Regret.) Then, of course, I want to publish Chaser and Mallory’s story. Thank you so much to everyone who’s been reading and loving the episodes of Kickstart My Heart I’ve been sending out in my newsletter!
