He chuckled. “Get out of here, Wyatt. You aren’t my type.”

I shook my head. “Good, you aren’t my type either.” I pushed myself up from the chair and walked out to the front, finding Ruby behind the counter. Ruby was much more my type, but again, I’d shrugged her off the moment she showed any interest because I didn’t mix my activities. This was work, and she’d be a handful I wasn’t interested in partaking in.

“Boss told me to fill out the goddamn app application,” I told the redhead in front of me. She giggled and handed me the paperwork already ready to be completed. Of course sheknew. It would explain the smug smile on her face when I arrived to see Julian.

“Can’t wait to see what you’re into after all this time, Mr. Carragan,” Ruby said quietly. She tried to give off shy, submissive partner vibes, but I had a feeling she was anything but.

I shook my head. “Sorry to disappoint, darling, it isn’t anything that spectacular.” I’d have to make a point to bring the forms directly back to Julian. The last thing I needed was anyone else here to see them, but I also couldn’t lie on them either. Julian knew what I was into because it had been part of the interview process. I couldn’t be squeamish about sex or any of the facets if I was going to help build him a sex app.

I ran my own freelance cybersecurity business. Companies along the West Coast hired me to ensure their systems were safeguarded against hackers and cyber attacks. I gave them the ability to confidently tell their clients that they held their information close to the chest, and the confidence to make it happen.

Julian had hired me to ensure his app was safe from security breaches. At Silk and Spice, everything was paperwork and codenames. Being on the app, it was a new playing field he was rightfully nervous about putting his customers on.

Seeing as I’d never built an app from the ground up, I had worked alongside a few other app developers who had, but once the foundation was laid, the NDA’s were signed, and the rest had been sat confidently in my lap. I had a feeling Julian didn’t trust easily, and I couldn’t say I blamed him, but for whatever reason, he seemed to fully trust me, which I didn’t take lightly.

I filled out the forms as quickly as I could without thinking too much about it. They were pretty standard, and I knew what I liked.

Oral? Yes.

Vaginal? Yes, along with my condom preference.

Anal? Sure, I loved a girl with a great ass.

I chuckled at the more in-depth stuff, because while I’d never kept a partner longer than a month, most of the stuff we’d done had felt basic to me. It wasn’t until I’d started this job that I’d realized why some women looked at me wide-eyed when we first started, and I asked what was and was not okay.

My eyes ran down more of the list.

Primal play? Fuck yes.

Knife play? Sign me up.

Choking? Not me, but her? Yes.

Degradation? Yes.

Praise? All day.

Anonymous sex? That could be fun and more conducive to what I had in mind with this being work. So, sure. Why the fuck not?

“That one lookslike he likes you,” the older gentleman next to me said. His finger was shakily pointing at the giant furry orange cat in front of me. I’d noticed him already, since that was the one I was in the midst of having a stare-off with.

I’d been walking around the animal shelter for the last hour, and I’d met every available cat they had here. But this guy? I just kept coming back to him. He was lounging in the back of his crate, looking grumpy as hell. He had long orange fur with a white chest and gold eyes. He was stunning.

“Excuse me?” I asked one of the volunteers as she walked past. She stopped and smiled, so I pointed over to the orange fluff ball glaring in the back. “What’s his deal?”

Her smile slipped for a brief moment. “Oh, he was a surrender, but we don’t have any information or anything on him. They just sort of left him, and no one has been able to getclose enough to love on him, so he’s been here a while.” She shrugged as if to say, ‘happens all the time lady, pick someone else.’

I nodded, instead of being an asshole like I sort of wished to be. “Right, well I want him.”

Her mouth formed a small ‘o’ and she forced a smile that came out more as a wince. “I’ll…um get the paperwork and all that together for you.”

“Thank you.” I turned away from her and looked back at the fluff ball. “Well dude, you’re coming home with me. We’re going to have to stop at the store though, because I have absolutely nothing for you aside from a couch to sleep on and big windows where you can lounge in the sun.” He just stared at me, but it wasn’t a glare like it had been before, so I was taking this as a small win.
