“They can only see your back from the door.” He ran his finger over the fabric of her panties, and along her slick folds. “I can always stop if you’d prefer.”

His lips curled in a knowing smile, and the mirth flashing in his eyes vanished when she shook her head. He licked his lips again. “Hold onto the counter, Miss Bennet.” Shouldering her legs apart he peeled her panties to the side to gain access.

“Not gonna work.” His growl sent a ripple of desire through her. He yanked her panty leg down, threading her foot through before discarding the fabric and settling back between her thighs. As his tongue met her aching and desperate clit, her head rolled back.

They needed to talk – about so many things. And they would, right after she stopped fighting the already building climax cascading through her body and gave the man on his knees before her what he wanted.

Chapter 28

Lincoln

Spoiler alert: They didn’t talk.

Linc ate her out against the counter in the coffee shop, gave her two screaming orgasms, and took her home.

“Want me to come in?”

Her cheeks were still flushed after their antics in the café and the ride back to her apartment. She shook her head, handing over his helmet, guilt flashing in her eyes. “I have an early start.”

He could have said he’d leave early. He could have said he wouldn’t stay the night. He certainly should have suggested they at least talk about the increasing pile ofstuffweighing heavily between them.

But he didn’t, and they didn’t.

He drew her to him, kissed her as though it would be the last time his lips would taste hers and waited as she sashayed into her apartment.

When he got home, he presented the Avengers gift bag to Russell, who’d just stepped out of the shower and was leaving a trail of soapy droplets through their room as he towel-dried his hair.

“Is this your way of telling me you won’t be at Jude’s party this weekend?”

Linc shook his head. “Not from me. Some chick brought it into the coffee shop for Cleo to give to me, to give to you, to give to Jude.”

“What a long-winded game of telephone.” He opened the bag and tipped it. The present inside was also wrapped. “Who wraps a present inside a gift bag? Isn’t that the whole purpose of a gift bag? Y’know, tobethe wrapping paper?” He plucked the card from the gift and opened the envelope.

“Avengers gift bag and card? I feel like whoever this chick is, has Jude down to a T.” Linc pulled off his shirt and jeans, slumped onto his bed and propped himself up on his elbow.

“‘To Jude, saw this and thought of you. Dream big, and keep eating cereal straight from the box. Use this to break those glass ceilings you’re hurtling toward.’” A wry smile twisted Russ’s face as he read.

“Doesn’t say who it’s from?”

Russ smirked. “Nope. We’re not talking about this.” He pointed the card at Linc. “Spill. How’d the talk go with Zelda?”

Linc chuckled. That nickname wasn’t going away among his friends. “Uh… okay, I guess?”

“Fucked her, didn’t you?”

“Nooooo. Not quite.”

“But you didn’t talk?”

Linc shook his head.

Russell flung his wet towel at Linc’s head but it fell to the floor next to the bed. “Dude! You need to talk to her. This shit weighing between you both isn’t good for either of you.”

“Since when are you a relationship counsellor?”

“Since my best friend finally found a woman to fall head over heels with and I don’t want to see it implode because of some dumbass bullshit.”

Damn that was a good answer. “I haven’t…”
