“Submissive life ain’t for the faint of heart, girlie. How long’s it been?”

“Eighty four years.”

That brought a loud, iconic Mini Mo snort from her.

“You know, I’m sure he’d let you fool around with the Greek gods if you asked him.”

Kenzie shook her head. “I don’t shit where I eat. And they’re babies. I’m an old woman, remember? I’m as cougar with Austin as I plan to get. Plus, sisters before misters.” She nudged Molly’s elbow with her own.

“Oh. It wasn’t a de la Delight that did me wrong.”

“Color me intrigued.”

“The blond in back. Justin. He kissed another girl in high school.”

“Nooooooo!” The voice came from a bathroom stall behind them as the girls froze in silence.

Molly’s face drained of whatever color had returned as she mouthed the word ‘fuck’ over and over.

A stall door creaked open and a sheepish looking Claudia stepped out. “Lo siento. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to… overhear.”

Molly shook her head. “Rookie mistake not to check the stalls before spilling the tea.” She shrugged.

“I won’t say anything. Sisters before misters, right?” Claudia offered a smile, and Molly heaved out a breath.

“Right.”

The Latina folded her arms and arched a perfectly micro-bladed brow. “So, Justin?”

“Kissed another girl right in front of me. Granted he didn’t know I was going to be there.” She smirked. “Finn kicked his ass from here to kingdom come though.”

“O’Brien?” Claudia knew her hockey players.

Molly nodded. “We’re together. So I shouldn’t be bothered by seeing Justin Ass again, but…” She shrugged. “It hurts. And I feel…” Her eyes glistened as they filled with tears.

Someone needed to check hell hadn’t frozen over. Molly Morrison, badass bitch extraordinaire, never cried. At least not in front of people and if she did, never strangers.

“Humiliated.” A huge sigh carried Molly’s word from her body.

“Ay, no!” Claudia rushed to put an arm around Molly’s shoulders, and Kenzie smothered a giggle. Claudia clearly didn’t know Molly well, though to Molly’s credit, she didn’t bite the server for the show of affection.

“It’s not your fault he is a piece of shit.” Claudia squeezed Molly. “This is on him. You are better than anything he could have given you.”

“And you have Finn.” Kenzie didn’t have much to offer, the unexpected addition to the conversation was doing just fine without her.

“And you have Finn,” Claudia repeated.

“You came here to write an article about the team. Didn’t you know he played here?”

“I did. I know, I know. I only came to write about the de la Lush brothers though. Ares making them a triple threat is a big deal. A family trio of talent on one team? This season will be interesting as fuck. I just hadn’t planned on being a few feet away from the boy who ripped my heart out of my chest and stomped on it while he locked tongues with another woman right in front of my teenage eyes.”

Kenzie winced at the agony entangled around Molly’s words. Fighting the urge to rub her heart, she heaved out a sigh, but the ache in her chest didn’t budge. She knew as well as anyone that there were some things you just never got over.

“It’s not your fault he threw away a diamond and picked up a rock, amiga.”

Molly giggled. “I like that.” She nudged the server. “What about you? You know all about my teen angst. You gotta give me something in return.”

Claudia’s eyes flickered to Kenzie’s in the mirror.
