“Everyone will be wondering where the guest of honor is.” She moved her other arm from around his neck and took a step back. “We should get out of here before they come looking.”
“Maybe one more minute.” Sammy caught her by the waist and pulled her close again. He bent and kissed her. Slower this time, like they were just getting started. A promise for more. When they broke apart, Sammy took her hand in his. She smoothed down her hair, and he smiled at her. “Don’t worry. No one will notice.”
They walked out of the small room hand in hand.
And ran straight into Seth.
“There you are,” Seth said. He looked between the two of them, then gave Sammy a mischievous grin. “Hi, Robin. So good to see you.”
She gave him a small wave. “Hi, Seth.” So much for sneaking back into the party.
Seth turned to Sammy. “I brought the plans you requested for your cabin. The architect finished them up this week. He modified them from your old plans just how you specified. Want to take a look?”
Sammy shot a glance her way. “Absolutely.”
They carried the plans to a nearby table. Sammy pointed out the various parts of the plan he liked the best. “Here’s the kitchen. I want it to be big enough to entertain. Everyone’s favorite room is the kitchen.”
She saw a square marked Oven. “That appears to be a very large oven.”
“It’s a double oven.” He hesitated. “I ordered one of them brick-lined.”
A tingle raced along her spine. “Did you buy me another oven?” Yep. She loved this man.
His voice dropped an octave. “I figured I should put all those baking skills you taught me to good use.”
“Sure you did.” She put her hand on his back and bent to the plans again.
He pointed at another spot. “This will be the center of the home—a living room with a fireplace anchoring it. The room will be big enough for parties and having groups over to watch games on the big screen.”
She could listen to him talk about this house all night. She didn’t worry about the way it was laid out or the number of bedrooms he had planned. She knew whatever it looked like, it would be perfect.
Because any place with Sammy was home.
