She nods.

“I am, and thank you for bringing me here because this has been such a nice surprise!”

Frank merely chuckles, taking her hand on the other side of the table.

“Yes, but this isn’t all of your surprise,” he growls. “There’s something else too.”

Her eyes widen. “Really? What is it?”

I look at Frank and he nods.

“Actually, sweetheart, we’re taking you to see a Broadway play. Remember how you said you wanted to see Hamilton? Well, Frank here knows someone, and his connection managed to snag tickets for us. They’re the best seats in the house too.”

“Oh my God, are you serious?” April gasps, her eyes going wide. “But tickets are something like two thousand dollars apiece!”

I merely squeeze her hand.

“Then it’s good that Lube It All is doing well financially. But don’t worry about it, sweetheart. The cost isn’t anything to us, and besides, we want to treat you. You deserve it after putting up with this asshole for months now,” I say, nodding at Frank.

My friend merely grins.

“Speak for yourself, douchebag.”

But April’s beyond excited now and literally bounces up and down in her seat a few times.

“Thank you so much,” she gushes. Then her look turns naughty. “I promise after the show I’ll do anything you like to demonstrate how appreciative I am.”

My blue eyes gleam.

“Anything?”

“Yes, anything,” she murmurs coyly. “Just name your desire, gentlemen, and I’ll be sure to try my best.”

With that, Frank and I share a glance because I know what he’s thinking. Two thousand dollar tickets be damned. I’d be happy to skip Hamilton right now and book the three of us into a swanky hotel room for some forbidden fun.

But we’ve been planning to hit Broadway for ages now, so instead, I merely push the dessert menu in front of April.

“Pick something, honey, otherwise we’re going to have you for dessert.”

And with a playful giggle, April obeys. After all, this woman is right for us, and both Frank and I have never been so content. Who would have guessed? A chance rendezvous on the side of the road has led to a meeting with the love of our lives, and now, we wouldn’t give April up for anything.

April

A month later.

I chose an apartment complex with a pool because there’s nothing better than lazing the day away along a beautiful stretch of blue water with the sun warming my skin. Plus, it soothes my pregnancy nausea, and I’m beginning to show now. My little belly presses against my bikini bottoms, but oddly, my boyfriends haven’t realized.

I keep meaning to tell Frank and Dylan about my pregnancy, but it keeps getting away from me. They’ll distract me with a gift, or kiss me in exactly the way I adore. Then, my good intentions go flying out the window, and soon, I’m making love to them again.

But still, I know I’m pregnant and I went for an ultrasound last week. The picture of our growing baby is hidden in my drawer, and even though the photo is a grainy black and white, my baby’s absolutely adorable. Plus, it’s my surprise for this weekend. I’ve planned an epic date for us on Friday night at an expensive restaurant where I’m going to whip out the photo and then spill the beans.

Hopefully, Dylan and Frank will be excited. I know I am, that’s for sure. Besides, I think they suspect at least a little bit. After all, my boobs are enormous and strain teasingly against my bikini top. Not only that, but my boyfriends have commented that they find me incredibly wild and hungry when we’re in bed together. It must be the pregnancy hormones turning me into a needy woman, but my men are more than happy to satisfy my cravings.

With a happy sigh, I lean back and close my eyes once again, my hand resting on my tummy. I can’t wait until I can feel the baby moving, but it’s too early right now. Then unexpectedly, there’s a flutter against my palm and my eyes fly open. Was that the child? Or was it just my lunch being digested?

Suddenly, a tall shadow looms over me. Ugh, who’s blocking my sun? I shade my eyes with one hand and squint upwards.

“Could you move please? I’m working on my tan.”

But then I blink a few times and realize that I recognize this man because it’s my ex-boyfriend Tyler! I haven’t seen him in months now, not since we went out that one time after he got back in town. He texted me a few times after that, but I didn’t reply. It just seemed kinder not to.

Now the boy looms over me, looking worse for the wear. He’s always been thin, but at this moment he’s positively reedy and gaunt, not to mention unshaven. There’s a certain funky smell coming off him, and I wonder if he’s changed his socks and underwear in the last week.
