I giggle.

“Well, it’s an extra long twin, but it would be pretty cramped for two people. Plus, what will happen if Alyssa comes home and finds you in my room?”

He grins.

“I don’t know. I think my daughter knows I have a sex life, even if I generally don’t parade it in front of her.”

I giggle.

“Really? Do you think kids really think about their parents’ sex lives?”

Cyrus grins again and tweaks my nipple, making me gasp.

“Sassy woman. Well, she better get used to it because her old dad isn’t giving this up anytime soon.”

I stare at him, holding my breath.

“What do you mean?”

The big man merely runs a large hand between my legs, his eyes flaring as I let out a throaty moan.

“I have a feeling this thing between us is going to last, sweetheart. I had a good time. Didn’t you?”

I can’t answer because my heart’s lodged in my throat and I have to swallow to force it down. OMG, is this really happening? I’ve had a crush on Cyrus North for years, but never in my wildest dreams did I think that we’d end up in bed together, much less that this could become a “thing.” But my pulse races as I look into those deep blue eyes and nod.

“I did have a good time, Mr. North, and I’d like to have a good time again. I just never thought you were interested in me.”

Those blue eyes gleam again as he moves his hand up to cup a big breast before leaning over and kissing the pink crest.

“Oh, I’m interested, honey. But I didn’t let myself do anything about it because you’re my ex-stepdaughter. Hell, you’re my daughter’s roommate and best friend too, so it was just plain fucking wrong for me to make a move on you.”

I gasp.

“You noticed me?”

He nods, leaning over to kiss me deeply.

“Yes, I noticed you, honey. Not while I was married to your mother of course because back then, you were nothing but knobby knees and braces. But you’ve been friends with Alyssa for a long time now, and I’ve watched you change. What was once a skinny, teenage girl is now a luscious, generous woman, so yes, I noticed.”

My heart pounds in my chest.

“I’ve noticed you too, Cyrus. For so long, and it felt really wrong so I stifled my feelings. Or at least, I kept them to myself,” I whisper.

He leans forward to give me another soft kiss.

“Wrong is all about perspective, baby girl. Right now, I know that what we did feels right, so if it feels right to you too, then I think we should go with it.”

I nod.

“But what if people find out?”

He grins.

“They won’t. We’ll keep it under wraps at first, and if things start getting serious, then let’s talk about what could happen.”

I gasp because never in a million years did I think things could be “serious” with Cyrus North. Is this a fantasy come true? Is my Prince Charming really here? I know I shouldn’t feel this hope blossoming inside, but the happiness is so strong that I merely ignore any niggle of doubt and smile at the handsome man.

“You have yourself a deal,” I say smartly.

“Good,” he says before punctuating his word with a kiss. “Then I want to see you again tomorrow, Josie. Ordinarily, I like to pick up my dates, but since we’ve decided to keep this under wraps for a little while, perhaps you’d like to come to my place?”

My heart flutters. Cyrus is inviting me to his penthouse? Yes, please! I smile again.

“Sure thing. That’s probably a good idea, Mr. North.”

His blue eyes flash and he leans forward to kiss me again.

“Great, sweetheart. It’s a date, then. I’ll see you then, but as for now …” His words trail off as he lavishes me with kisses once more. I sigh with contentment before lying back and letting the alpha male take what he wants because this is the dream that I never thought would come true. I’m with Cyrus North, and we’re on the precipice of beginning a relationship. What could be better? I don’t know, but this certainly feels like the best thing that’s ever happened to me.

Josie

Luckily for me, Alyssa is a social butterfly right now, so she’s out with her new running club guy again. It’s not that I want to be secretive, it’s just that I don’t like lying, and if she were here while I’m getting ready for my date with her dad, I’d have to make something up. It would be awkward to say the least, and to be honest, I’m a horrible liar. My best friend would see through me in a second.

Then again, I’m sure most people would think I’m crazy if they knew I was going to see Cyrus. After all, he’s twenty years older than me and my best friend’s dad too. But at the same time, I’ve also never been this excited to meet up with a man before. So what if he used to be married to my mom? It’s not like they’re married anymore.
