Josie’s gorgeous as she watches the sunset, but all I can focus on are her beautiful features and curvy figure as the setting sun casts pink and orange rays all over the terrace. Two weeks ago, this scenario would have been unthinkable. I never would have thought I’d be here with my former stepdaughter as passion rages through my veins. But now, it feels right. There’s a live wire of physical attraction that runs between us, but also a deep understanding and empathy too.

A gust of wind blows over the terrace and the curvy girl shivers. With that, I rub my large hands up and down her arms in an effort to warm her, before slipping my arms around her waist. God, she’s so soft and curvy, not to mention utterly delectable.

With that, Josie turns to face me with the most beautiful smile and I want to throw her onto the cement floor and ravish her right here and now, but I hold back. She’s young, the voice in my head warns. Don’t overpower her or you’ll scare her off. I take the advice and smile instead.

“Do you want to go back in, sweetheart? The wind can get pretty chilly up here during the evenings. I have some dessert for us if you want to snuggle on the couch a bit.”

She nods. “That sounds good.”

With that, I hold my hand out and smile. She doesn’t hesitate to let me pull her back into the living room before settling her on the giant white sofa.

“Make yourself comfortable, sweetheart. I’ll be back in a sec.”

She nods. “Sure,” is her sweet murmur.

Quickly, I grab the cheesecake from the fridge and plate slices for both of us before taking the food back to the living room and joining Josie on the couch.

“Here you go, honey.”

“Mmm,” she moans around her fork as she takes her first bite.

“That good, huh?” I grin.

She laughs, and wipes at her mouth. “Cheesecake is my favorite. How did you know?”

I pause for a moment because the truth is that I remember from when we all used to live together. Back then, I was married to Marilyn, her mother, and we’d occasionally have a family dinner together. It wasn’t that often, but I remember how Josie adored cheesecake.

But I don’t want to tell her that because it’s a little creepy, to be honest. How would she feel knowing that her former stepfather was watching her and noting her likes and dislikes, even back then?

“Is everything okay?” Josie asks, her brows drawn together innocently.

I smile like nothing’s wrong. “Yes, of course. Why do you ask?”

She touches my forehead just above the bridge of my nose. “Your forehead was doing that scrunched up thing it does when you’re focusing on something really hard.”

I rumble with laughter.

“Well, I hadn’t realized that, but I do like knowing you’re paying such close attention to me,” I wink.

“Oh you!” she giggles. Her cheeks immediately turn a bright shade of pink, and I love seeing her flush like that for me. But as much as I want to explore the many ways I can make her blush, I need to know that she’s one hundred percent on board. After all, I’m two decades older than Josie and have a lot of life experience under my belt. Meanwhile, the curvy girl is young, innocent, and utterly tempting without even knowing it.

I wait until she finishes her cheesecake, and then take our plates and sit them out of the way on the coffee table before turning to her with a serious expression.

“Uh oh,” she intuits. “What is it?”

I take a deep breath, seizing her eyes with mine.

“Nothing so horrible. I just need to ask you something,” I say.

I can see her visibly swallow, but she gives me a smile small and nods. “Sure.”

I pause for a moment. “Do you feel weird about what happened between us at your apartment the other night?”

The beautiful woman’s quiet for a minute, biting her lip as she looks back at me. Then she speaks. “You mean, do I feel weird about us having sex?”

I practically growl. I don’t want her to think this is just about sex because it’s so much more than the physical intimacy we shared.

“No, Josie. I mean, shit, yes. Damnit, I’m messing this up. Yes, we had sex, but it was more than that, honey. You know that, right? Maybe things between us started out steamy, but it was more than just a physical connection. Being with you was incredible and I treasure what we share.”

She bites her lip.

“You think?”

I decide to double down and take her hands in mine while staring into those big brown eyes.

“God, yes. How could it not be? You’re beautiful, charming, and so intelligent too. I don’t want this to become a one night stand, or just a random hook-up. I want more. I want to date you.”
