“For what?”

“A romantic weekend getaway.” He smiles genuinely, rubbing his finger along my jaw. “I figured we could use some time away, just you and me.”

My brows shoot up. “Really? You planned somethin’?”

“Yep, I sure did. I wanted to celebrate six months together.”

“It’s been that long already? Wow. I can’t believe it.” If the first time we slept together was when we started dating, which was after his birthday party in February, then he’s right.

He leans in, bringing his lips to mine. “Best six months of my life, sweetheart. Even if you just tried to pepper spray me.”

I chuckle against his mouth. “I was ready to tase your ass next.”

After Archer finishes packing, he drives so I can still be surprised. The car ride is peaceful as the late evening sunshine splashes through the windows onto my skin. I try to soak in the last few weeks of summer before fall arrives.

“So where are we goin’?”

“Well…it’s not too much farther.”

I furrow my brows, wondering what the heck he has up his sleeve.

“I wanted us to be alone.” He shrugs with a devious grin. “But don’t worry, the views will be worth it.”

Thirty minutes later, we arrive and my jaw is nearly on the floorboard. “Wow, you weren’t lying. What is this place?”

“According to the website, it’s a Magical Mountain Retreat with Vintage Charm,” he says. “A private place for just the two of us. It’s stocked with the groceries already, but we can drive into town too.”

We get out of the car, and Archer grabs my hand. “Let’s take the tour, shall we?”

The tall trees give some nice shade while Archer leads me around the outside of the cabin.

“That deck is off one of the bedrooms, then there’s another in the back,” he explains.

“The forest is so damn beautiful,” I say in awe.

“Wait till you see the inside.” Archer grins while he punches in the code. Once we’re in, I gasp.

“The windows bring in so much light. It’s adorable.” I admire the rustic décor and hardwood floors. I glance around at the dining table, chairs, and next to it is a den with a little couch set up. A large sectional that looks comfy as hell is in front of the fireplace. Archer watches my reaction with a satisfied grin. I wrap my arms around him and kiss his lips. “This is so sweet. Thank you for doing this.”

He slides his hand down my back and squeezes my ass. “I might’ve had some selfish intentions.”

I chuckle, feeling his cock harden between us. “To which I’m extremely grateful.”

Once I’ve had the tour, he grabs our luggage. I’m still shocked he planned this without me knowing.

After dinner, we go to the hot tub. “I love you,” I tell him as I climb onto his lap. “It’s like you just knew I desperately needed this.”

“I could tell you needed an escape.” He brushes strands of wet hair off my cheek.

“I think it’s all finally catching up to me.”

“Well, then I’m glad I brought some massage oil.”

“Oh so you’re a masseuse now?” I arch a brow in amusement.

“Yep, your very own personal one.”

I rock my body against his, feeling his erection beneath me.

“Everleigh, we’re outside…”

“In the middle of nowhere,” I remind him.

He grins. “Your level of naughty never ceases to amaze me.”

“You should be used to it by now,” I retort. “Six months of mind-blowing sex.”

“As I’ve said before, I’m a lucky man.”

I bite down on my lower lip, placing my hand over the bulge in his swim trunks. Why he put them on is beyond me. I wore my bikini with the intention of him tearing it off me.

“I think I’m the lucky one here.”

He unties my bottoms as I help lower his shorts. I slide down on his cock and slowly ride him. Every ounce of anxiety leaves my body when he kisses me. The friction between us builds hot and fast, melting all the stress away.

When we’re both sated and relaxed, we climb into bed and snuggle.

“This might be a presumptuous question only six months into our relationship, and I know we discussed getting a dog, but do you see yourself wanting children in the future?” I ask as he holds me in his arms.

“I love kids and hope it’s in my cards. Before prison, I was certain I could never provide a good enough life to have a family…”

“And now?” I prompt.

Archer flashes a sweet smile. “I have hope now.”

“I’ve seen you with Owen and the babies. No doubt you’d be a great father.”

“Well, playing with someone else’s kids and raising your own are a little different,” he says.

“That’s true. Right now, I get to be the cool, fun aunt. Meanwhile, their parents have to worry about college funds and their futures.”

“But you want that eventually?”

I exhale and grin. “Yeah. I’d love to be a mom. I’ll never neglect my kids like my mother did, but the fear of not being good enough has entered my brain a time or two.”
