Immediately, Curves pops into mind, but I know that’s not a solution for my sister. Maggie is sassy and outgoing, and she’d never make for a docile, pliable escort. Besides, my younger sister might still be a virgin and I don’t want my sister to be de-virginized while working for the agency!

“I don’t know,” I say in a firm tone. “But we’ll think of something. Barry has some great friends, and I’m sure a few of them are single and eligible. Let me do some sleuthing.”

My sister brightens.

“Oh would you, Prim? You’re a lifesaver. By the way, a new neighbor moved in across the way from Mom and Dad. You knew that, right?”

I shake my head.

“You know I’m not speaking to Malcolm and Victoria.”

My sister nods slowly.

“I know, but I think they’ll come around after the baby’s born. I mean, how long can they hold this grudge, knowing how awful Samuel was? But I wanted to tell you about the neighbor because he’s really gorgeous. Of course, he’s way too old and he’s a single dad too. He’s already got a teenage son who’s starting at the high school this fall, so it’s completely inappropriate.”

I stare at her.

“Mags, who are you saying is good-looking? The dad or the son?”

She blushes before looking down.

“Both!” she says. “I mean, neither. It’s not like I’m interested or anything,” she giggles.

I merely roll my eyes with an amused grin. Again, my sister is way too sassy for Curves, and Mags will surely find her man a different way.

But at that moment, my boyfriend strides into the kitchen and grabs a pink cupcake. He looks from me to Maggie and back.

“You two look more alike every time I see you together. Curly brown hair, beautiful big brown eyes and the same sweet smile that means you’re up to no good.”

Mags and I laugh.

“How do you know?” I ask coyly.

My boyfriend’s blue eyes gleam.

“I just know,” he growls while beginning to circle me, sexual tension filling the air.

Of course, Maggie picks up on it immediately and decides to say goodbye.

“Okay, that’s enough cupcakes for me today otherwise I’m going to blow up into the next Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man. I’ll leave you guys to it. It was good seeing you Prim! Bye Barry!”

I waggle my fingers at my sister as she lets herself out, and then my boyfriend and I are left in the silence of the kitchen.

“Soooo,” the alpha male growls, winking suggestively.

“So?” I reply with a playful smile.

But my man goes serious then.

“I overheard you talking about your parents, and I want you to know that one day, I hope you guys reconcile.”

I nod.

“Yes, but I’m in no rush,” I say in a soft tone. “They knew Samuel was horrible and still wanted me to marry him.”

Barry nods.

“But there’s something else too. I want to make an honest woman of you, Prim, and maybe that’ll heal the breach between you and your parents.” Then before I realize it, my boyfriend’s dropped to one knee and pulled a small velvet box from his pocket. “Primrose Talbot,” he breathes. “I love you, and we’ve already been to hell and back. We’ve survived so much already, and I want to spend the next fifty years of my life with the woman who makes me happy. Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?”

Tears come to my eyes and my belly flutters. I wasn’t expecting this because Barry and I decided to take things slow, so a proposal is a surprise. But now, I’m struck by how much I want this. I didn’t realize getting married was so important to me before this moment.

I look down at Barry and smile through my tears.

“Yes, Mr. Childers,” I whisper. “I would love to become your wife. I’ll marry you.”

With that, he pops open the box and inside is gorgeous, cushion cut four-carat diamond ring. Barry takes it out and slides it on my finger. It fits perfectly, as if it’s always belonged there, and I smile through blurry tears while the gem sparkles and shines in the light.

“It’s so beautiful. Thank you,” I breathe. “I love it.”

We kiss passionately, making my toes curl.

“Thank you,” he growls against my mouth. “I love you too, Mrs. Soon-To-Be Childers.”

Then, we wrap our arms around each other as I melt into the handsome billionaire. After all, we’ve been through a lot. We’re not even married yet, and we’ve already survived an incredible series of events. But what I do know is that when the time comes to marry Barry, I won’t be a runaway bride. Instead, I’m ready to be down and dirty with the man of my dreams, while simultaneously cherishing and loving our family together.
