“True, and if you do add wine by the glass later, that could mean a lot of stains,” Erin adds.

“I hadn’t considered that. Leather it is,” I say as I mark the selections.

“It will pay for itself in the long run,” Taeli assures me.

Erin brings the bottle over and tops us all off. “Now that business is out of the way, let’s discuss the elephant in the room, shall we?”

I look up to see her and Taeli staring at me.

“What elephant?” I ask.

“Guess who came into our office today,” Erin says.

“Who?” Jena asks.

I know the answer before it even leaves her lips.

“Garrett Tuttle.”

We spend the rest of the evening discussing Garrett’s arrival, our brief encounter outside the diner, and how I plan to avoid him for the rest of his time here while we unpack boxes of books I ordered from a wholesale market and fill the bookcases.

“All I’m saying is, the man is fine. I think you should have fun with him while he’s here,” Erin suggests.

“No. No fun will be had with Garrett Tuttle ever again,” I insist.

“Bummer,” she whispers.
