Sitting at my desk at the library, I eat my chicken and pesto panini and stew over what Mona said.

No way is Garrett coming to Balsam Ridge. He’s supposed to be on tour this fall. He and his band will be in a different city every night from the beginning of September until after Christmas, according to his website. Not that I stalk him or anything. Updates just happen to pop up in my social media news feed regularly because I live in Balsam Ridge. Not because I search his name occasionally or because I have purchased his albums and watched all his music videos on YouTube.

It has to be just more untrue gossip.

Thank goodness because I’m not able to take an extended vacation right now with training the new librarian and getting the café ready for my grand opening in a few weeks.

I know it’s silly. I’m a grown woman. What happened between me and Garrett was a long time ago, but some scars just itch more than others, and the scars he left on my heart are very sensitive.

I finish my sandwich and log in to my computer. I click the link to the Garrett Tuttle fan page to double-check my information.

The tour announcement is still up.

He’s definitely not coming to Balsam Ridge anytime soon.

Thank you, Jesus.
