“I’m taking her to a hotel for a few days while my brother goes through tapes to see if anything is suspicious.”

“I really hope you find the person. They were definitely out to kill your girl.”

Alastair fisted his hand with the need to pound the person to the ground. “I’ll find who’s doing this.”

“Call if there’s anything you need.”

“Thank you, Benjamin.”

“Good luck.”

He hung up and stared at Beth. He vowed not to stop until he found the person. It would take some intervention to find out how to let her use things but not let them get into anyone’s hands.

That was a start. He needed to find out who brought the things up to her. He dialed Graham. “Benjamin called. It’s arsenic, and the poison is getting into her through her skin from the shampoo and lotions she uses.”

“Goddammit.”

“I know, we’ll catch them. I just thought of something. Can you discreetly ask who brought Beth’s products up? That’s the only way they could have done it because Beth is here a lot.”

“Good idea. I’m with Tony now. We’ll see if we can’t backtrack on the videos, so we don’t have to ask.”

“Good idea. Thanks, brother.”

“We’re all here for you if you need us.”

“Thank you.” He hung up, took a few calming breaths, and walked back into the room to see Beth had moved the food off to the side and was lying down again.

“Are you tired, baby?”

“Yes. The soup was good.”

“I enjoyed it, too. I have a question, who have you seen come into the room since you’ve been here?”

“Clarice and a few maids. Why?”

“Do you know who brought you the feminine things you use?”

“No. They were here the second morning.” She studied him. “What’s going on?”

“I don’t know yet. I want us to go to a hotel for a few days.”

“Why?”

“I just want to get away with you and let you get some rest. There are too many people around here.”

“That’s fine. I’ll go wherever you do.”

He bent forward and kissed her. “God, I love you.”

She ran her fingertips down his cheek. “I love you, too.”

“Get some sleep. We’ll leave later today.”

She nodded, closed her eyes, and fell asleep.

He watched her for several minutes and wondered if he should bring the other brothers in or tell his father. He’d wait and see how everything played out.

At the moment, he needed to make some calls and get things in motion. He wanted her out of there by midnight.
