“Not until the festival.” I stood and stretched my arms over my head, my skin tingling at the way he stared at me with his appreciation worn so clearly. “You have work to do at the office, and I have to get back to my condo to change.”

I’d been staying at Wes’s for two days now, while my grandma and Ella stayed in my condo. We’d been able to recover a few items that washed up on shore, including a few pictures of my dad, but for the most part, she and Ella had lost everything. I was still struggling not to blame myself. Every time my mind started to sink deep into regret, Wes would kiss me and remind me it wasn’t my fault, without me saying a word. He’d always been able to read me that way.

It would be at least another year before a new house could be finished since Finn was booked up for the rest of the summer. I didn’t trust anyone else to do the job right. He’d built his own home on the cliffs and it had survived all the earthquakes over the last few weeks. Paige’s dad had availability sooner, but I’d set my grandma up in a cardboard box before I’d let her live in a home built by Newcomb Construction.

Fortunately, I had another place to stay. As much as I loved my grandma and Ella, they liked to fuss, and the small, two-bedroom space would’ve gotten a lot smaller really quickly.

Wes stood, and I eyed him with just as much appreciation. God, he was gorgeous. And all mine. Grinning at the look on my face, he placed his hands on the small of my back and pulled me closer. There was no place else I’d rather be than wrapped up in Wes’s arms.

He rested his forehead against mine, his gaze growing intense. “Why don’t you bring all your stuff back here? Move in with me.”

My heart tripped as a warm glow spread through me, lighting my palms with that golden green light. “You don’t think it’s too soon?”

“Too soon?” He let out a choked laugh. “Baby, you’ve held my heart in your hands for over ten years. It doesn’t get much slower than that.”

Since he put it like that… “Okay.”

He gripped my shoulders as he leaned down, catching my gaze. “Okay?”

I smiled and brushed my fingers over his jaw. “Yeah. I’ll move in tonight.”

He lifted me in the air and swung me around. Crushing his lips down on mine, he picked me up again and brought me back to bed. I guess I could open the shop a little later today…
