“Are you assuming this is the same guy who killed three of your other girls?” I asked.

King nodded. “It has to be. It’s too much of a coincidence for it not to be.”

“Do they know how he got her?” Apollo asked. “I thought you guys had that place locked down like Fort Knox.”

“We do,” Hero snapped. “This is the second time this fucker has gotten into the clubhouse without any of us knowing.”

“Then maybe it’s someone who’s already inside?” Apollo suggested.

King’s eyes snapped to Apollo. “Are you saying one of my guys is doing this?” he barked.

Apollo held up his hands. “I’m not saying that. I’m saying maybe it is someone on the inside.”

“Maybe it’s one of the other girls,” I suggested. I knew it wasn’t any of the guys. They were my family. I knew Apollo wasn’t suggesting it was one of them either. “You said you’ve got close to twenty girls in there. You really think you know all of them?”

“Luna does,” Hero replied.

Apollo shook his head. “There’s no way she knows all of those girls. Let me talk to them. See what I can find out.”

“Sultry Knights is Luna’s baby. I really doubt she’s going to just welcome you with open arms,” Hero chuckled.

“That’s why you tell her she’s going to welcome Apollo with open arms,” I growled. Luna was one of the people I always seemed to bump heads with. Even though she was more than fifteen years younger than me, she always seemed to be the one with the biggest chip on her shoulder. “You run the club, not her.”

“You know how Luna is,” King drawled. “We’ll handle her. If you want to lend us Apollo, we’ll gladly welcome him. Even Luna.”

That was hard to believe.

“Did Ransom find out anything else when he came to clubhouse?” I asked. I had never personally dealt with the guy, but I had heard he was a hard ass who was hell bent on justice. And didn’t like the Devil’s Knights.

King shrugged. “Snapper told me he was still talking to the girls. We’re going to head back to the clubhouse within the hour to see if we can find anything out.”

“I’ll come with you,” Apollo volunteered. “It’s best I snoop around when things are still fresh.”

“You mean when Luna is on a tear. She’s going to chew you up and spit you out,” Hero chuckled.

Apollo cracked his neck. “I’d like to see her try.”

“Your women can stay here. It’s likely safer here while the police are sniffing around,” I offered.

King nodded. “I appreciate that. It’s hard to do anything when they think they need to have their nose in everything, too.”

“Do they know about Savana?” I asked.

King shook his head. “I wanted to talk to you before I told them. Shit spreads like wildfire when one of them knows something. I wanted you to hear what was going on from me.”

I appreciated that. I know the last time I met with the Kings, we hadn’t left on a good note, but they were still family.

“Take Apollo and let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.”

“The same goes for you. We know you’re handling the Meeks, but we are here if you need us,” King replied.

I waved my hand. “Right now I don’t have anything on Meeks. The fucker disappeared. No one has seen him since I left Miami. I can’t even locate Grit’s body.”

King cringed. “Jesus. I thought for sure he would strike again soon.”

I had, too. He was acting unpredictably. “Well, whenever he does, we’ll be ready. I’ve been trying to spread around our location but not make it obvious that I’m trying to lure in Meeks. No bite yet.”

Leo had agreed that our best option was to basically invite Meeks into our home and take him out.
