“He’s not going to get me,” Luna spat.

King was right. The connection we found was that all the dead girls worked for the club, and so did Luna. Luna should be just as concerned for herself as she was for the rest of the girls who worked at the club.

“Yeah, in Alaska, he sure won’t,” Zig chuckled.

“I can help figure out who this is. I can’t just sit by and wait for him to kill another girl.” Luna took a deep breath and glared at Ransom. “I can keep my cool as long as someone else can, too.”

Ransom held up his hands defensively. “Hey, I don’t attack unless provoked. I’m just trying to do my job, and you aren’t making it easy.”

“Provoked, my ass,” Luna mumbled under her breath.

“I think there are other things she would like to do with his ass,” Zig muttered.

Zag laughed like a dirty, old man, and bumped his fist to Zig’s. “Nice.”

“You know what I don’t get?” Easy interrupted.

“A lot?” Zag laughed.

Easy ignored Zag’s jab. “Why are you here with Macy’s picture? Normally, you stonewall us with any information.”

That was a good point. Ransom acted like we were part of the problem most of the time.

Ransom shrugged. “This is the fourth murder in four months. At this point, I’m willing to talk to the guy who changed Macy’s tires if it means I’m going to figure out what asshole is killing these women.”

“The police can’t figure this out, so they need the Devil’s Knights help, huh?” Zag bumped fists with Zig again.

“You two are idiots.” Ransom pointed at Zig and Zag. “I don’t want your help unless you’re getting lunch for everyone.”

“Bro,” Zag shook his head, “you are a dick to the tenth power.”

Zig smiled wide. “And there is no way I would get you a ham sandwich without putting a little secret sauce in it.” Zig curled hand into a fist and moved it back and forth.

“Bro,” Hero laughed. “TMI.”

“And you two should have been called Dumb and Dumber.” Ransom stood and paced back and forth behind King. “Why is someone killing women who work at Sultry Knights?” he pondered out loud.

“Could it actually be a guy who wanted to be part of the club, and we told no?” I asked.

Ransom stopped pacing and glared at me.

I held up my hands. “I’m not talking about you, Ransom. You obviously moved on from not being a Knight.” I glanced at King. “In the past, you guys haven’t been too open about letting people in the club. I can remember at least four guys who left pissed and vowed that we would regret not letting them prospect.”

“You think I got a fucking Rolodex with a list of the guys who tried to prospect?” King growled.

Snapper raised his hand. “What’s a Rolodex?”

“Fucking hell,” Demon grumbled.

“Oh, to be twenty-one and dumb,” Rigid chuckled.

“I’m dumb because I don’t know things from the stone age?” Snapper joked.

“Is this what I missed out on by not getting into the club?” Ransom asked.

“It’s a three-ring circus most of the time,” King grunted.

“Can we get back to figuring out who is killing all of my girls?” Luna called. She rapped her knuckles on the table. “Murderer on the loose who is probably already finding his next victim ring a bell to anyone?”
