“Expect me to not kiss you until we both can’t breathe.”

My breath caught at his words. “What?” Zag wanted to kiss me after that bumbling explanation about there being something special about him?

“I’ve wanted to kiss you since you opened the door three days ago, Tess. I came here because I wanted to protect you from Malcom, but there was more behind me knocking on your door. Something I didn’t understand then, and I’m just now starting to get.”

I didn’t know what to say. I never in a million years thought a man like Zag would even look my way, let alone want to protect and kiss me.

“Uh, okay.”

A smirk spread across Zag’s lips. “Okay?”

I nodded my head. “Okay.”

“So I’m going to kiss you, Tess.”

Oh. OH. “One thing,” I whispered.

“Yeah?”

I closed my eyes and said the words a twenty-eight-year-old had never spoken. “I’ve never been kissed.”
