Evelyn

Ipretend not to look as Dante steps out of the bath, the entirety of his body glistening with water and on full display for me like some kind of Greek god, but I can’t help but watch.

He runs a hand through his wet hair, pushing it back from his face before turning to catch me staring at him. I blush fiercely as I try to act as if I wasn’t looking, even as he offers his hand to help me out of the tub.

“I’d prefer it if you’d just stare, love,” Dante says with a soft snort before turning to walk over to the bathroom.

He returns a few seconds later with two large towels, handing one to me before wrapping his own around his waist. I pull the towel over my shoulders and wrap it around myself.

“Can I have some clothes before we talk?”

I half expect him to refuse my request, but instead he gives me a small nod.

I watch Dante cross over to the table of clothing Luci bought. He riffles through the items, grabbing a couple things before walking over to his own closet and then finally returning to hand me the clothing to me.

A wave of relief washes over me when I realize he hasn’t chosen a corset, instead he’s given me a simple pair of underwear, a comfortable looking pair of shorts, as well as one of his own shirts.

I glance up at him at this and he shrugs.

“What can I say? I like the way you look in my shirts.”

Dante walks over to the armchair to sit as I pull on my fresh set of clothes, thankful to once again be dressed.

At this point, I’ve probably spent more time naked here than I have my whole life up until now.

I pull myself up onto the mattress, my legs dangling over the side as I face Dante.

“Where should I begin?”

“Start with training,” Dante says.

“Okay.”

I tell him about Seven and Luci’s training sessions, leaving out some of the more embarrassing details in the process. Dante’s face doesn’t change as he listens in perfect silence to everything I say, and part of me wonders if this another one of his tests.

Can he tell if I’m leaving things out or hiding anything from him simply from the way I talk?

This thought makes me suddenly nervous, and my mouth runs dry.

I try to swallow past the lump forming in my throat, but can’t.

“Are you okay?”

“Just a little thirsty,” I say, trying to clear my throat.

He pushes himself up out of the chair and walks over to one of the nightstands. Bending he opens up a compartment I hadn’t noticed before and pulls out a cup before going to fill it in the bathroom.

Returning, he hands it to me and I gratefully take several sips of the cool water.

“What made you nervous?” he asks, causing me to cough and choke.

“I-I just started over thinking.”

“Evi …”

I sigh, biting my lip nervously.
