Chapter4

Her name was Daisy Stone. She was twenty-two years old. She moved here with Rebecca Banks four years ago and Frankie had been fucking her over ever since.

That was the information I learned from looking over her tenant application that had been on Frankie's computer. I already had one of my guys doing a more thorough search of her history. Soon I would know everything there was to know about my angel.

Daisy was an apt name for her. Happy and full of sunshine. She lived in a shithole of an apartment and was up and walking to the bus stop before dawn. Yet somehow, she still had a smile on her face.

Would she smile at me like that? I wouldn't be able to hold off long before I plucked my Daisy.

The only reason I wasn't jumping out of the dark SUV right now and taking her to get a real breakfast was because I knew that would be seen as odd.

No relationship with me would ever be considered normal, but I could try to ease her into things.

Not for long, though. How long could I reasonably go before I got her back to my home and into my bed?

My dick had been hard all night just thinking of her innocent body lying on that bed with those flashcards. Would she still be able to get those answers right if I was fucking her from behind?

I gripped the steering wheel so tightly; my hands turned white as she bounced on the balls of her feet at the bus stop.

A man behind her sporting a scraggly grey beard and clothes that looked like they hadn't been washed in months leered at her exposed legs and ass while she had her own silent dance party to whatever she was listening to.

Before I realized what I was doing, I had my gun out and in my lap.

Shooting a pedestrian wouldn’t be the best first impression, but she'd get over it eventually. The bus came up and saved the man’s life, since it pulled him out of his leering. They both got on and I followed at a distance, studying each and every passenger until I saw my angel exit.

The early morning traffic made it easy to follow her to the coffee shop. That, and the fact that she showed no spatial awareness. It was as though she gave no thought to her own safety. Just those damn headphones in her ears.

I'd have to make sure she had at least two guards on her whenever she went out. That way she could be as relaxed as she wanted. Let my men take on the burdens for her.

I parked across the street from the coffee shop, The Busy Bean, and had a perfect view of her as she went through the motions of setting up the shop.

I had been up all night but didn't feel tired at all. I could watch her forever and never get bored.

But the break from real life could only last for so long. By six o’clock in the morning, my phone was ringing, and I was handling my own work while watching Daisy take care of customers from inside.

My business wasn't the lazy sit on your ass kind that allowed me to use a laptop and work in my car any time I wanted to, so today would have to be an exception.

It was torture to be this close to her but not take her. But I hadn't gotten to where I was without a lot of patience and strategy.

All I needed was time and my angel would be mine.
