I didn’t want to put on the clothes I’d just taken off. I intended to wash them in the sink before wearing them again. Especially my panties. I’d picked some fresh ones up from a vending machine on the way back and left them in my room with the dress and shoes.

A sinking feeling lodged itself in the pit of my stomach as I realized I was going to have to walk naked through the living room to get to the bedroom. Steeling myself, I opened the door and peeked out. Ryon was still asleep.Phew.I crept out of the bathroom and tiptoed to the bedroom. When the door was closed behind me, I released the breath I’d been holding.

There was a towel on the floor. It smelled clean, so I used that to dry off. He didn’t have a hairdryer, but in the heat outside, it wouldn’t take long for this short purple bob to look normal. My hair didn’t do anything weird when it dried. No curls. No frizz. Not even a weird kink anywhere. It was probably safe to get rid of the drips of water then ignore it and let it do its own thing.

Once I was fresh, I covered up with one of Ryon’s white dress shirts which I found hanging in his closet. I wanted my dress to be pristine tonight.

I went to the kitchen and started brewing a lantana tea. The flavor was growing on me. While the tea was infusing, I heard a noise behind me. I turned. Ryon stood in the doorway of the kitchen.

“You always run around naked in other people’s apartments?” He was smirking.

“You were asleep!” I didn’t know what else to say. I was furiously embarrassed. How had he seen me through closed eyes?

His gaze traveled down my body. “A woman wearing a man’s dress shirt is just about one of the most sensual sights in the universe.”

His voice was a low growl. I realized he had a big bulge in his pants. I shook my head in disbelief.

“I just washed. I have a job tonight. I can’t.” I wanted to. Oh, God, I wanted to know what was in his pants. But this wasn’t the right time.

“So that implies you would otherwise?” He grinned at me. I’d never seen this side of him. Lighter than usual. Had something gone well for him today or was this gallows humor after a terrible disaster?

“Yeah, and Urgoth wants to talk to you.”

“Great.” Urgoth was the last person I ever wanted to hear from.

“When you’re ready, I’ll show you how to get to the ship.”

That sounded like there was a stairway to climb or something.

“I’m ready as I’ll ever be,” I told him. “May as well get it over with.”
