His hand ran down her temple and around her neck. Mullen brought his face to her sensitive neckand sniffed her.

"She's exquisite," he said, looking me in the eyes. I knew he hated me, but I hated him even more at that moment. All I wanted was the freedom to get my hands on him.

"Takeyour bloody hands offher!" I yelled like a man out of control.

"I wonder whather smooth tits feel like, eh?" he said to me, and I felt my entire body catch fire. I struggled to break free, throwing off the man who was holding my right shoulder, but I was pulled back by the other two men and held firmer.

Vanessa was scared. Her eyes were closed because the man's hold on her irritated and mortifiedher.

I'm sorry, I wanted to tell her, but that wouldn't suffice. I was supposed to protect her.

Mullen traced his hand down her collarbone, and then we all heard car screeches as new headlights approached from the road.

As thecars approached us, hope arose like a bright moon. When I looked at Vanessa, her eyes were open, as if she was processing the situation as well. This was her opportunity to escape.

She stamped her heel into Mullen's foot, and he cursed, losing his footing as he struggled to regain control of himself. Vanessa bolted when his grip on her was no longer strong enough.

A red sports car sped through the middle of the road, colliding with a startled Mullen. Hetook off ten meters from where he was standing, his flight only interrupted by one of his vehicles.

"I will find each and every one of you after tonight, and I will show no mercy," I told the men holding onto me.

They gave me a hesitant look before letting me go and retreating. As they returned to their vehicles, the other men grabbed their guns to protect themselves. Mullen was picked up while unconscious, placed in the backseat of a car, and driven away.

I returned my gaze to Vanessa and began walking towards her, unable to run because my legs felt as heavy as rocks. All I wanted to do was hug her and promise her that nothing like that would happen again.

She wasn't my family, but I felt compelled to protect her, to ensure that she was safe and unharmed. At this point, I realized how much I cared forher and desired her only for myself.

Vanessa collapsed into my arms, burying her head in my chest.

"You were strong tonight. Stronger than me,” I told her, and she squeezed me even tighter.

I couldn't tell if she was crying, but she clung to me. I held her close, not wanting to let her go. My gaze returned to the man who stepped out of the sports car in front of me. I knew who he was the moment he smiled and opened his mouth to speak.

"It'sbeen a long time, hasn't it,cousin?" Dylan said.
